POWER 106.7 AIRSTAFF ???

Amazingly enough, I do all this "small market" thinking from my top 10 market office. Imagine that...

As I write this, I'm sitting here watching Craig Ferguson on my TV. He does "The Late Late Show" on CBS. I'm sure he works goofy faces and sound effects into all of his daily conversations, and that must be the "real" Craig Ferguson. (He just made a bunch of goofy faces set to sound effects and the audience roared.)

Why would CBS put a talent on the air that isn't completely real? Didn't anyone ever tell him that's not how it's done?

Radio is theater of the mind. Talent is whoever the audience thinks they are. If they're really good talent, they're whoever the talent wants the audience to think they are.

Anyway... We all get graded on our performance in this business, and I understand young Tino has been getting good grades. That's all that really matters.

Not only can you NOT compare tv to radio. But reguardless it be TV or radio you cannot compare market #1 to any medium market and expect things to be similar. I am not calling you out but come on. You claim you are in a top 10 market and you say vomiting on the mic and not being real is acceptable??? What kind of show would Funkmaster Flex, Fatman Scoop, DJ Clue, Angie Martinez, or ANY New York jock sound vomiting everytime they cracked the mic? Not very good. Things such as bits, rumors, or whatever are already fake enough, I think the jock being real is essential. I admit, I wish I was in Tinos shoes bout now. He has his youth, a good market size on his resume, and nothing but room to grow in his future. But I will tell you this, fast forward 10 years and if Tino is still on the mic at age 29 vomiting.... he will most likely be in some 200 plus market. Because he will not advance into major markets using that voice. I hope the kid gets it together, I really do. But to say that it is okay to be fake and use a fake radio voice is not only comical, but appalling.

Thanks fo rthe praise Diamonddizzle.... never expected to get respect on this board.

If all of us gave respect where respect is due then it would be a perfect world.

Like I said in my previous post... I wish people would be honest on this board.... instead of siding or talking about someone else because of where they themselves work. I dont want to call anyone out but there are people who posted on this thread and work across the "street" from power and have replied to this board to talk bad about a fellow radio personality.

A good thing to remember is you never know who will be your next boss or when you yourself will be fired.

We all at one time or another will need Clear Channel, Cox or one of the other major companies during your radio career. If you see yourself in the same station or market for more than 10years .... do your research and see how rare that is now a days.

Dude, just keep believing whatever you want to believe and keep posting as your alter ego "DiamondDizzle" to backup whatever you say.

Could it be any more obvious that this is the same guy?

Anyway... A lot of major market hip-hop talent is anything but real. Ya know whut I'm sayin'? Dey wouldn't talk to their mamas like they do on da air. Ya know whut I'm sayin'? "Keepin' it real" is anything but real.

Hip-hop talent screams, yells and pukes all the time. If you want a national example, look at the Baka Boys. I'm sure they talk exactly like that off the air. How about another national example... Khool Aid does middays on Power 106 in LA and also hosts the nationally syndicated Pocos Pero Locos. She doesn't do it all the time, but she pukes and drags words out for emphasis. "He's E-Dub and I'm Khooooooool Aiiiiiid!" Having met her on a few occasions, I can tell you first hand she doesn't talk anything like that off the air.

^^^^ obviously we arent going to see eye to eye on this issue so I will leave it at that.

Oh and by the way, I am not posting as Diamonddizzle. Believe me or not, I honestly dont care. That sort of thing is lame. And seriously if I was so lame to create an alternate screen name why would I make it so obvious? Give me more credit than that Radioman100.

I find it funny that if two people agree then its automatically the same person. People just blab there flappy lips with nothing to back it up. Click on my name and you'll see that I have posted on several markets not just SaTown's. I travel alot and here alot of diffrent airtalent ... you know I dont need to prove who or what I am to some person who claims to be a professional but doesnt act like one.

It's not that you agree that makes me think you're the same person, it's your punctuation and the congratulatory lovefest you seem to have going. Not too many people put four periods in a row in their messages.

But since you mention your other posts, you both seem to have a thing for mainstream CHRs in the same parts of the country. Kindof reminds me of a certain night jock that was bashing Tino when he first came to town and the posts he had made on other boards.

And looking at your old posts DD, it looks like you really like Bubba The Love Sponge. Doesn't he strike you as more than a little bit pukey? I have an old FMQB aircheck of him on FLZ where he was both shouting and puking his brains out.

Bubba the Love Sponge is a talk radio personality and that is a diffrent ball game all together. It still shouldnt be aloud, but in Bubba's defense he only screams when he is mad. I didnt know (like I said in my other post ) of Bubba until he was on Sirius so I couldnt discuss the old air check you have.

Bubba is just a off the wall type of guy (which I enjoy).

Replying to you last post about CHR ... yes that is my format of choice. That is also the music that I listen to on my IPOD. I also enjoy Urban, & spanish radio.

I also am big Fan of Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero who have just signed a Multi Station/Million, 5 year deal with Univision Radio. They are currently in New York, Fresno, and are about to Add Miami in '08 . With many others that are waiting for current contracts to expire.

So like I said before I dont need to prove myself to you but I one think I like to make clear.

I enjoy Radio.. it is my passion.

I just wish more people had that passion and see it as a career not just a job. This boad would be so much better if that were the case... everyone would be so much happier.

Not bashing nights cause I was once there.... but I am past doing a night show in a Market size 30 at this point in my career. Maybe just Maybe in like 15 years I will move to Key West and do a night show again playing J. Buffet for 4hrs !

Long Live Margaritaville !!
