PRATT TURNS DOWN KNIX FOR PD / MORNINGS!!

It is more than interesting that he has turned down CC twice, yet they are meeting again this week. Where there is smoke there is fire.

Where there's smoke, there is someone smoking something.

Pratt, from what I hear, has a rather interesting negotiating strategy. He names his price, and that's the end of the negotiations. If CC is "meeting" again with Pratt for a third time, then they haven't figured this out, and he's probably just playing with them.

If I had a crap-load of money and no need to get back on the air, it's what I'd do.

I heard that part of the deal is that they have to build a giant airplane hangar, so they can store Pratt's ego. ;D

Legend City sounds a bit jealous. In an industry where giant corporations have no regard for their employees, especially air staff personnel, Pratt is truly "David vs. Goliath". He has beaten the giant many times. Coming from the programming and air talent side of radio, Pratt is a vigilante and we should be cheering for him.

:D Good one!

Legend City doesn't sound jealous to me. He/she sounds like they've either worked with him or listened to him.

Dear Legend City and No Show. Since you are not jealous, please explain Pratt's 30 years of success. Time after time, radio companies must have felt he was worth the money or they would not have paid his freight, and ego is only ego if one can't back it up. Obviously, he has over and over and in different formats. Look, I am not a loyal fan of his show either. I have only met him twice or so, but why is this board so full of jealousy instead of discussing the issues. Pratt is by far the biggest radio name and the most successful radio talent in the history of this market. So please, if you disagree, then explain why he has enjoyed 3 decades of success and is still getting big offers. I challenge you to stick to the issue.

The Nurse and I only hope there is an airplane hangar big enough for Pratt's ego - his track record reflects his awesome talent! Give the Mayor what he has earned....a hangar as large as the Nearly Bald One's!

The original topic was Pratt turning down KNIX, an unsubstantiated rumor started by yourself. And again in this post you say that he is still getting big offers, yet there has been no real evidence other than you posting that he has been getting big offers. How is one to explain away something that, as far as I know, you made up out of whole cloth?

It's hard to separate the person from the ego. Mr. Pratt has been in radio for 30 years. Good for him. There are others too with this longevity ( a success in itself?) and without the ego. Really classy people. It's easier to root for some and not others.

No Show, 30 years in radio does not equal 30 years of success. Hell, there a million average jocks, managers or engineers who have made a long career out of being average. That sounds like it may be the difference between somebody average like you and somebody who has out-performed the rest of the field like Pratt. You and Legend City belong together, hanging your head at some bar and making excuses to yourselves, all the while finding reasons to attack those who have achieved.

Sometimes they work because they truly love the job.

Just look at the Nearly Bald One. Do you really think he needs the paycheck? ;D

It was a joke. A bit of sarcasm on the state of radio. :-\ Ah, never mind....

You are wrong CHR Breath. December is old news. Much has happened since. Live in the now!

CC wants Pratt before KTAR.

Well of course they WANT him, but are they willing to PAY him?

I mean, I WANT a million dollar house, but it's just not in the budget.

paging nurse insidethenumbers...paging...

nothing has changed my fair lady. only one company/person can decide the fate. stamped w/ all the ironclad locks necessary.

won't happen.

don't believe me? read more.

now go get me a drink spider....

Intern Poleman, if you are referring to his KMLE contract, CBS would love for Pratt to take the gun out of their back. The Mayor holds the cards. CC needs immediate help and KTAR needs at least one full time big name with Arizona heritage. Not many choices. In fact, only one. Although Pratt may not be quite as driven due to his personal financial security, his name and reputation would offer instant attraction to advertisers. Where Pratt goes money flows.

Pratt is old and stale, and his current "on the beach" status is just proof of that. KUPD got sick of him and cut him loose, and he's bounced around since then... nobody of any note or crowds of any size are clammoring for him. Hell, his replacement at KUPD is still there - Pratt hasn't had the same recent level of success by that measure.

Obvously Clear Channel and many others do not agree with NIK, as Pratt continues to be courted with sweetened offers. Plus, there is a reason he is still being paid millions by CBS who also recognized his value, but hoping Pratt moves on as they cannot afford his paycheck during this economy. NIK sounds very defensive or very jealous. He either works for KUPD and is still furious that Pratt quit or he has recently been beaten by Pratt, like many others. Either way, it is obvious NIK has no clue about the industry. Love him or hate him, nobody can deny Pratt's success even after KUPD. He killed KUPD as the local engine behind KZON, and Pratt brought KMLE back from the grave to defeat Tim and Willy and KNIX. His show led this market in revenue for the past five years. He arguably had just as much success, maybe more, after he quit KUPD. Does anybody personally know Dave? If so, convince him to comment on this board. His views would be interesting on many different topics. The reason for my recent interest and increased curiousity comes after reading his book. I wasn't much of a fan before, but I am now. NIK should take off his straight jacket and give it a read. He may actually learn something about this industry.
