Predictions for new format at 95.7: Active Rock Or Oldies

Actually, the safe bet might be on no change at all. Entercom loves them some Variety Hits. They have them in 6 of their 22 markets, including Portland, Boston and Indianapolis. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see them try and "fix" Max before blowing it up.

no change at all? i doubt that. maxx fm does terrible in the ratings.
i would predict a CHR station, KDFC and KOIT will probably not change at all since they do weel each book. entercom doesnt usually mess with stations that do well.

Why would anyone do country again in SF? When the last station left it had better numbers than ALL the CBS FM's do right now. Scared the hell out of the San Jose station (including costing them a lot of money) Bad sellers and uninformed media buyers aside, why put yourself out there like that? Just put another crappy rock station on the air, or oldies that no one will listen to or buy. The Bay is so Blue state to begin with; there's just no reason to risk a $90 million dollar radio property doing country.

Unless it is a Classical Station. Their Kansas City Classical Station, KXTR, did very well on the FM dial , but that did not prevent Entercom to to switch it to the AM dial.

If 95.7 was Top 40 it should be like MAX 95.7 Today's Hit Music. or maybe they could change it's call letters or something to like KSFB the ALL NEW B 95.7 San Francisco's Hit Music Channel!

If 95.7 was to go flip to CHR/Pop as many of you predict on this board, maybe Entercom should change the name of the station to something such as HIT MIX FM 96 "The Pop Music Channel."
The Hit Mix Format has NEVER been tried in commercial radio(I think).

Isn't there already a station in San Jose called "Mix 1065"?

You're right, but there are NO commercial stations in the US named HIT MIX(I think anyway).

Top 40 Definately. The call letters are KMAX they could call themselves Max 95.7 Today's Hit Music! Or they could change the call letters to KSCC as Channel 95.7 SF's #1 Hit Music Channel

OH that's so clever and original! you boys are really thinking out of the box! hmm - the market is worse for top 40 now then it was back when z-95 signed on. the only way this station flips chr is for ego purposes only. wild is so scared out of their scull they aren't even playing hip hop in the day anymore. my bet is on straight ahead ROCK, then country, then oldies, then hip hop!

The problem with these long threads is that people forget what they've posted before. After 5 "pages" of this, people have cycled about 3 times through: "Entercom will flip KMAX to CHR" ..."That's stupid - won't work because Z 95.7 wasn't popular"..."Entercom will flip KMAX to Country and call it The Wolf"..."That's stupid, won't work because The Bear was a dud"..."Let's call it (Something) Mix and rhyme it with 96" ...

Anybody have some new ideas? How about a Karaoke station called "SINGiN 95.7"? They could print out the lyrics on the station's website.
