Who the hell are any of those guys? Why are they on the air? Surely this is temp....

Wow... What an insult to those who are involved, whom are doing something they love to do and not getting any $$$ for their effort. Do you slam all the interns / students in high school and college radio, too? ::)

Was not a slam, just not a fan of let anybody on the air radio....The vets I respect, but hey let's play radio seems a little strange, but all the best....

I wonder how many vets got their start on "play radio"... I bet many of them did.

Gee "Isaidso" "Playing radio" is fun ,because radio today isn't. The shows today were free form,no spots, no boundaries, and doing what radio used to do when it was radio. It was refreshing for a change. What you hear elsewhere on the dial is stale ,boring repetitive ,corporate homogenized trash.

First there was never a time that there weren’t spots, but.... As I said all the best. I do however think that the same people talking up this little experiment would be the same people bashing the crap out of it if it was not all of your Radio Info buddies. I've seen you guys do it over and over on this site. Let's face it, maybe it was "free form, no spots, no boundaries, and doing what radio used to do when it was radio" But it was also bad. To pretend different would be just being nice to "use to sell radio", or "was kind of on KLLI". With that said have fun, hell I'll even tune in.......

By all means you are entitled to your own opinion. However, I also think you're expecting wayyyy too much for a "first broadcast". I don't know any of the guys involved, but I applaud them nonetheless. They were attempting something that radio has been seriously missing for far too long.

I'm urban from head to toe, but this station even caught my attention. It's something different and listening to Mike and the other guys talk about local radio as well as this board, was very interesting and I learned some stuff also.

Thanks to all for the kind words and even the skepticism. All I can say is, tune in and try it out for yourself. Sure, it's not everybody's cup of tea, but at least it's something different. I think any one of us would have seized such a moment, however brief this ends up being, just to try their hand at programming or doing their own show...even if it is for FREE! I make no apologies or excuses for that. This is something fun, and perhaps innovative in its own way, and even tho I've been VERY sleep-deprived the last week or two trying to put this thing in motion, it's been well worth it. And as the days and weeks wear on, we'll all get more comfortable in our little "arena" and the shows will get even better.

The website's up if you want more info on the shows, the process, etc...www.thehificlub.net. We're on MySpace as well at www.myspace.com/retroradio1360.

BTW, we're still having some issues with the music on overnights and the switching from one resource to another. It may be another day or two (once the holiday is over) before everything's fully back on track.

Buzzkill is wrong.. this was not bad radio. This is a throwback to the time when radio was a big part of pop culture. If it was "bad' as Buzzkill says, that would not have been the case. Nevertheless, Buzzkill is entitle to his/her/its opinion.

Well, Mike (and helpers), that settles it--there must be a way to keep this going past July 1!!!! Really liking the extended versions, like the Level 42 one this morning. No way we'd get this around here otherwise. Didn't get to hear the whole KLIF aircheckfest yesterday, but another thumbs-up moment....

It's been since before the Oasis flipped that I've listened to music on local radio for any extended bit of time.

I have'nt turned on my XM Radio for a couple of days.Oh Yeah.i liked that Rooster....keep him on.

Im listening via Itunes. Thanks to all involved to bring something different and for thinking outside of the Box. I wish this format was on an FM stick or XM/Sirius.

Reminds me of when I used to listen to the Eagle when Stevens and Pruit were there and also KAFM 92.5

Wow I made a request and sure enough the air personality played my song. Hot dang, what a concept....

Is 1360 listed somewhere in the "Radio" tab of I-Tunes? If so, what genre? Thanks!

Nevermind, I found the stream address on the website. Dumb question. Sorry!

Sorry I don't have winamp in my pc, but Itunes plays pls files....so Im listening right now. Does winamp have a listing of what songs are being played. It sounds like Im listening to a Grace Jones song right now....

It'd take quite a bit of work (money) to get the stream to ID the songs. Right now the stream is just an off air receiver being piped into a computer. There's no interaction with the actual software playing the songs.

I'm working on getting another streaming resource right now. We were VERY fortunate to get the one we're using right now, but already knew up front that the sound wasn't going to be that hot (and yes, it's fed right off an AM radio, but one that's in a great sightline to the xmtr.) Once we get set up with the other resource, we'll try to pipe the signal straight out of the board...so you should get it in stereo when that happens. With McCarty's passing this week, needless to say that my mind's been occupied elsewhere, but I will get on this ASAP.

And THANK YOU all again for the kind words!!! All the guys have really stepped up to the plate.

Not really. If you stream through Live365, you can have a simple DOS type program grab the current song playing information from the log file of your automation system, and transmit it to the Live365 server where it will then appear in each listener's Live365 player window.

Man, even the UAC's won't play "The Beautiful Ones" from the Purple Rain soundtrack album.
I'm digging this format.
