RETRO RADIO 1360 STARTS EARLY SATURDAY!

Not really. If you stream through Live365, you can have a simple DOS type program grab the current song playing information from the log file of your automation system, and transmit it to the Live365 server where it will then appear in each listener's Live365 player window.

The problem is getting it out of the station's firewall. I don't know what kind of IT setup they have there. So I don't know how easy that'd be. This stream is obviously off-site, and doesn't have access to the automation system. Even if it was on-site, I don't know how their version of automation software works with Live365.

By the way Mike and Chad, the stream currently has a whopping 10 people listening. Most I've seen at any given time.

The DOS program that would send the song data, would be running on the same PC running the automation software. That's exactly how I did it when I was broadcasting on Live365. My Automation system and the DOS program sending the text data to the Live365 server, were running on the same computer.

The data got through the firewall without a glitch.

That's something Mike would have to take up with the owners of the station. Do they have the bandwidth for a streaming server, and would they allow him to install that software on the automation computer. When I worked in radio, jocks installing ANYTHING on the on-air machines was a really big no-no.

Wiki wasn't very helpful in getting 1360's current call sign, but Radio-Locator gave the data:

KMNY

I wish that this station was broadcasting in HD. I have an HD radio in the car at home. What that would allow is the song title/artist to be displayed, as well as the better fidelity in HD.

How many watts is 1360 puming out in the daytime/nightime?

Is there a live DJ in the 3-7pm slot?

Well, it DOES broadcast in HD at night ("H"ardly "D"etectable on the dial.) ;D

Nah, we're stuck with all the fun of AM broadcasting...but it's better than nothing at all! Once we can get a regular stream provider going, you can listen in stereo on your computer.

50,000 watts daytime, and about 980 at night.

No live jock after 11AM weekdays...11A-3P is a replay of Chad's "GenX Radio Project" from that morning, and automated Modern Classic Rock runs 3P-7P. Wish I had the time to jock it during the week!

OMG! That's funny! (rim-shot)

Ditto! Wish I could do a weekday show too! :-[
We get a few more shows recorded and we can rebroadcast HI-FI, Gen-X and others...just a thought! ;D

Seriously Mike, great job getting this together!

How many times do ppl have to say HD on AM DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!
Sound is no better and ruins the Analog sound and signal....
If 1360 were to go HD id be really P.O.

I'm working on getting another streaming resource right now. We were VERY fortunate to get the one we're using right now, but already knew up front that the sound wasn't going to be that hot (and yes, it's fed right off an AM radio, but one that's in a great sightline to the xmtr.) Once we get set up with the other resource, we'll try to pipe the signal straight out of the board...so you should get it in stereo when that happens. With McCarty's passing this week, needless to say that my mind's been occupied elsewhere, but I will get on this ASAP.

And THANK YOU all again for the kind words!!! All the guys have really stepped up to the plate.
Not the Stream. The Station it's self.
I get this on all my radios and stream but it seems you've fixed whatever it was 8)

Yes, it's temporary; we're likely gone by July 1. If you've read the other posts, you'll know that we're filling the void between the end of BizRadio's contract and the beginning of Rational Radio's 24/7 contract at KMNY.
It's a damned shame. I don't see RE-gressive talk going very far! But then again, Air America has been bailed out before and it could happen gain even with the current scandal going on.

So, indeed, we're just here to have fun. I've let each jock program their own show, music and all (strange concept, huh?) and it resembles block programming. We're commercial free. And based on streaming results and the quantity of phone calls, people are actually listening!
Maybe you could start a station funded by donations rather than conventional advertising.
