Robin and Maynard now in talks with.....

*** YAWN *** Come on does anyone really care at this point honestly? Unless they are re-inventing the wheel (They were there when the original model rolled out) I don't see why anyone would tune in?

I wouldn't give any credit to satellite, they are looking for fresh young energetic programming to make satellite hip with the younger listeners and we know that this pair is everything but hip with the youngsters!

I imagine about the time the lake freezes over in Montana we will hear more about the dynamic duo getting back to work.

Three names for you and your satellite comment:

Howard Stearn
Bob Dylan
Oprah

These three people are ALL on satelitte radio and they are not youngsters. And there are many more people like them who were around when the "wheel was invented" that are still great on radio.

You should talk to your parents about this word: Respect.

Don't really care if R&M end up on the bird, but it certainly won't have anything to do with their age.

Both XM & Sirius give a large number of channels over to the boomer generation of listeners. 60's, 70's, 80's channels, classic rockers and even channels that run weekend 60's tributes to the great old heritage AM rockers, complete with old jingle packages and airchecks of jocks that were around when they "invented the wheel". You think XM or Sirius will be running airchecks of MOViN FM" 40 years from now to make gen "X"ers feel all fuzzy inside? I doubt it! Let's have a bit of respect for those jocks who made radio great. Their time may have passed, but their ideas and concepts are as valid today as they ever were.

And just who do you think makes up the bulk of the sat subscribers...20 somethings in their Honda Civics with coffee can mufflers or 30 to 50 somethings in their BMW's?

Since you offered the link, I could not resist. Any reader of this board knows I am not a fan. B.J. Shea may be less of a fan, but not much less. Still, I listened to their stream and turned it off after ten minutes. Just what we need, more of the same, boring, archaic drivel that they forced on the airwaves for far too many years. The only time I heard them do anything remotely different than what is on this web site was when they were kicked to afternoons on KZOK and they talked politics non stop after 9/11. And they stunk at that too! Robin and Maynard have spent so much time doing so much bad radio that at this point there is no chance they can turn it around. If a station wants to put them on, expect slim pickins in the billing cycle.

From what I did hear, they did mention Sirius at one point. OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH I can hardly wait to put my preset on that channel should they show up. That would be the radio equivalent of speaking through a garden hose.

They forced it on the air? Dude, what are you talking about? What do you think they did, strap dynamite to their bodies hold guns to the heads of their program directors and fans for 20 years? I don't know if you became embittered by being hung up on by Robin or something, but get over it or seek counseling.

I hope his username isn't true. There seems to be a lot of unresolved anger issues with R&M.

I would prefer to have them on Seattle radio again, but if they go to satellite, I will follow them.

Come on nobody is saying that R&M don't have talent or have not earned their radio chops over a grand 18+ year run in the business, but come on don't you think they live to much in the past and their refusal to embrace the younger generation with new material puts them in a pigeon hole of the market which is getting smaller and smaller every year.

I mean the proof is right there on their latest web site update, they roll out a new semi-fresh web face, and they couldn't even do a full 15 minutes of audio about their summer vacation, without filling half of it with an ancient "Crane Fly" audio bit. I mean jesus christ they have had the whole summer off and they couldn't work up 15 minutes of audio about the experience???

I'm not sure which part you listened to, but their "Summer Vacation" audio is 30 minutes, the last 5 minutes being dedicated to the "Crane Fly" bit.

 Oh pardon me, yes I can see where having to do 30 minutes of new original material would be asking way way way to much!

I'm willing to bet that every person on this board in support of R&M coming back is over 40! Which shows a lot of who the demo for Robin and Maynard is.... What station would want a morning show that only 40+ Men enjoy??? Maybe KIXI, but I don't see that happening.

Robin and Maynard had a good run, they're time is done.

Sorry, YoYo, 34 here. And an every single day, don't-miss-a-minute kind of R&M listener. Wearing out my "Robin & Maynard Remembered" cassette tapes from their last show on KXRX. And I'll be there the minute they're back on the air.
