One thing is clear in all of this mess. This is proof that Rodney is just as incompetent at his job as the pd's are. He fits in perfectly. How embarrassing. It' a good thing he doesn't handle anything really important.

Rodney gets a lot of information that none of us have access to otherwise, so I think your comment is baseless, and in fact, not clear, contrary to your comment. As with other jobs/professions, one will occasionally receive misinformation that causes one to react in a particular fashion, based upon the information provided. In Rodney's case, this was the information he was provided.

Keep it up Rodney!

Can we lock this thread? Rodney does an excellent job with the type of material that doesn't get covered nearly as well by news media in other places, and he puts up with unnecessary crap like this. That hardly constitutes "lousy."

Agreed...Rodney accurately reported what he was told. That's what reporters do.

Plus he's a helluva nice guy.

No bitterness here. I am just stating what is. He screwed up. He became someone's patsy. He was gullible. He didn't verify his sources. I am sure his boss man is not patting him on the back. He dropped the ball.

When the source is the horse's mouth, you go with it. If the source was you or me, then I would suggest verification.
 
I agree that Rodney is lousy. Any good reporter would check his sources before printing anything. The comment that Rodney is a gossip columist is absolutely correct. Reporter cover news and very little of what shows up on this board is news. I am not saying it isn't entertaining, because often it is, but it certainly isn't news and shouldn't be labeled as such. I am sure that Rodney will have a great career with the In Touch or Us Weekly someday.
 
Rodney is only reporting breaking information. I don't think he has ever claimed to be 100 percent accurate - he passes on what he is hearing - true or not. With any breaking story there are things reported which turn out to be wrong. It is up to you to filter and process any information you get from ANY source.
I, too, would like to add to the chorus of support for the Ho-man. I think he does a killer job and I appreciate his contributions to this board.
 
You guys really don't know JACK about journalism do you? Didn't check his sources? His sources were the actual people he was reporting on! The two key players in this story are Larry and the head of Cumulus. Rodney talked to both of them directly, so how could you "verify" what they said any more than that? When you witness or hear something yourself - it is fact.

Gossip columnists, on the other hand, NEVER speak to the source. They only report what "insiders" or "people close to" the key players have to say. Hence the term gossip.

And Rodney should be given props as a reporter for the fact that the key players talk to him. Solid reporters have the attention of the important people on their beat. If the head of a major media outlet is CALLING RODNEY to give him information, I'd say he's done a pretty good job of building credibility as a journalist.

Don't lock the thread. Keep it open so more of us can point out what an idiot AtlBanker is.

There is a major problem when radio management and key players here in Atlanta don't have any respect for Rodney as a 'reporter'. If they had respect for him this would not have happened. This says a lot about the way Rodney is viewed by the people that run the business.

Rodney did not report this in the newspaper; he reported it in his blog and on Radio-Info. There's a big difference.

Rodney by the way is a features writer. Features columns are not supposed to be written like they're for a business newspaper. They're supposed to sound like People Magazine and the like. The general public is not interested in radio like we are, but they're interested in personalities.

Finally, Rodney is one of the best writers around.
 
I think these attacks on Rodney are unwarranted. He just copied and pasted what Wachs sent him like he always does.
 
Where there is smoke there is fire. Someone on this board "Inside your Radio"? hinted to all of this before Rodney published anything. Check the Leslie Fram fired thread. They said the signal swap was coming and that the Regulars would move to 100.5 Rock. They were right on the first part before anyone reported so why not the second part? Though I still find it hard to believe they are getting back together there is more to this than Larry screw around with Rodney while on vacation in St Martin. BTW how many people do you know who have been out of work for 15 months take Caribbean vacations, especially after the holidays when they should be job searching. Perhaps one more good vacation to recharge the batteries before their new morning show starts?????

I think this pretty much nails it. I was thinking the same thing.

Whether or not it is Larry and Eric, Larry and SS Steve, Larry and Porn Czar....Larry appears to have landed something I think, and it appears that it's more than likely related to Rodney's original post I'd bet.

What would be REALLY funny? If it all comes out to be true, cus I'd love to see ATLBanker's 'spin' on it then...
