Rodney is a lousy reporter

In an old media world, we would never have seen the story develop. We would have read Rodney's article in today's paper and it would have been correct. But we're in the world of blogging, and we got to see Rodney report as the story develop, warts and all. To confuse this inaccuracy with lousy reporting suggests a lack of understanding of journalism. To state the case the way ATLBanker did, says more about him that Rodney's skills.

It's worth noting that one of the reasons Rodney is at the top of his profession is that he's one of the few reporters who can work with equal comfort with both print and the web. Rodney was a reporter for arguably the best newspaper in the world and now holds one of the more prized jobs in Journalism...he gets to watch television and listen to radio for a living. You don't achieve those things by being a "lousy reporter."

Or worst yet, in the old media world, unless it was your market that was affected (to read in your local paper) you'd have to wait until next week's paper copy of Radio and Records was received in snail mail.

Rodney gets paid to watch TV and listen to the radio, Matt Drudge grosses $800K a year by web surfing and mainly linking to others' work ($800K for a two person operation) .... long live new media! And if you can find your niche and make money off of it, go for it!

Re: Rodney is a great reporter

Rodney does an excellent job with reporting on what is relevant in the radio world. Many cities don't have somebody who covers this topic as frequently or as in depth as Rodney does and Atlanta is lucky to have him.

If all you have is muddy water, eventually it begins to quench the thirst and you are thankful to have it.

"A bird in the hand is worth......" - naah...

"A rolling stone gathers no......." - nope, not that one either.

"A stitch in time....................." - no, not that one.

I give up. AtlBanker must have been right all along. Obviously he or she has the inside track on all that is valid in the land of Atlanta radio. I'm just baffled as to why I did not pick up on it earlier.

Rodney - bow to him as I have.

Dang.

So, for comparison purposes and overall clarification of experience:

Rodney Ho = Wall Street Journal and Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

AtlBanker = Radio-Info Message Board and __________________ ?

A few things to know about Rodney Ho:

• He is a Princeton graduate. I highly doubt the any of you have that on your resume. How about any other Ivy League school?
• He has an MBA from Georgia State. Apparently, an Ivy League degree means bupkiss in the South.
• He does get most of his stories by digging and doing due diligence.
• When it comes to anything related to Larry Wachs, Rodney has blinders. Larry and Rodney have a long history, dating back to the mid-80's when a high school-aged
• Rodney Ho interviewed Long Island deejay Larry Wachs.
• I get the rest of the radio stories and feed them to Rodney. Don't believe me? Ask him.
• Even though I will be elected PD of 929 Radio Atlanta, Rodney hasn't interviewed me once. Meanwhile several DAVE-FM staffers have begged me to keep their jobs.

It is easy to criticize him and believe you can do it better. If you could, the AJC would be calling you right now. I cannot finish the post; my phone is ringing.

Rodney gets no respect I tell you. He called his doctor with a bad case of diarrhea. - He put him on hold! He joined Gambler`s Anonymous. They gave him two to one he wouldn't make it. he told his doctor he wanted a vasectomy. He said, with a face like his, he don't need one.

No wait, wrong Rodney.

If you don't think that's funny, you can just get the hell out of here.

Let me see if I got this correct. Rodney went to Princeton. Not Bad. He went to work for the WSJ. That sounds really impressive. Now he works for the AJC and reports on radio and TV. Sounds like he is going backwards to me. I guess the WSJ won't accept gossip as news. To bad. That probably explains why he doesn't work there anymore.

Atlbanker ---

Perhaps the only step down for Rodney would be to cover the world of banking.

GIT OVER IT. When did anyone respect or trust a banker, anyway??? ;D ;D ;D

Hey Rodney, you went to Princeton, worked for the WSJ, you would be qualified to answer this question. I hear the Brady Bunch are going have a reunion show. Can you research that for us? Can you find out who is going to play Jan Brady? Thanks Rodney.
