The GM for ABC's radio stations here rejected Limbaugh; Rook has since voiced great displeasure for Limbaugh's shenanigans in the last dozen-plus years...DavidEduardo said:(KABC is the Cumulus AM in LA... it does not carry Limbaugh).

- Rush is leaving WABC, not KABC.
- Rush is going to WOR because it's a Clear Channel O&O, and Clear Channel wants Rush there. But that's boring, so they drum up all the drama about 'hating' WABC to create buzz so the NYC listeners will be able to find him at 710 AM.

He is likely just negotiating publicly for the benefit of his next contract anyway. KABC can learn something from Rush: I understand he takes calls! KABC: TAKE CALLS!
TheBigA said:The main thing to me is that the Politico article doesn't actually quote Rush. Just one unnamed source. Did Rush himself address the issue on the air today? It's not mentioned on his website.

EJM said:Call me cynical, but I can see him being the "unnamed source" (or, at least, facilitating the supposed leaks); it would give him plausible deniability.
EJM said:In a case like this, I could see where it would be helpful to not make the comments directly attributable. Also, I vaguely remember during the Fluke situation that Politico got what may have been an exclusive statement; since that publication is involved here, something similar may have taken place.

Nonsense! While I cannot stand Rush, he is not the reason for the Cumulus failures. For your consideration:
KABC. Getting worse by the day (something I thought not possible), it is the Titanic of LA radio. Something that was, and could be again, so good and popular and profitable is a shell of it's former self. With a lead-off mornings of Doug ("I cannot pronounce names and am a trained broadcaster" McIntyre, he is terrible & getting worse by the day. His destruction of KABC's mornings is aggravated by the ever-aggravating T-Rae ("Mumbles and Giggles") Elmer who is no more a newsperson or reporter than Pat Sajak.
Stand by to send out a CQD to all vessels: KABC's struck an iceberg. It's going down fast. Get all the women and children to lifeboats.
KABC fails badly the balance of the day. Why The Prince or Sage or whatever he calls himself is still on KABC's air during afternoon drive is a mystery. I think they just forget about him and turn off the audio monitors at the station when Larry Elder is on.
Dear Cumulus: Fix your stations in L.A., SF, elsewhere. Do some decent talk radio that is exciting, versatile, engaging. Don't blame Rush. He is likely just negotiating publicly for the benefit of his next contract anyway. KABC can learn something from Rush: I understand he takes calls! KABC: TAKE CALLS!

- Rush isn't leaving Cumulus. His syndicator is Premier Radio Networks, which is Clear Channel.
- Rush isn't leaving KABC. He's on KFI. He's always been on KFI.
- Clear Channel owns KFI. Clear Channel and Premier are BFFs 4EVR. He ain't leavin' KFI.
- Rush won't replace Bill Carroll. They are different time slots. Plus, Rush is on the lineup already.
- Unlike the Politico article suggests, it's not like Rush is 'leaving the WABC building.' He broadcasts from his house in Florida.
- And finally ... Bill Handel does NOT want to go to late mornings. There is no money in late mornings. If he wanted mid-days, he could have mid-days. But he doesn't want mid-days. He doesn't want afternoons. He doesn't want nights. He wants mornings. The 7 o'clock hour alone makes more money than all of Bill Carrol's show.
Phew .... ;D
