Another brilliant argument from the peanut gallery. I hadn't realized that every news story is 100% accurate. Why bother with silly things like evidence or proof?? Someone somewhere said it happened so let's just convict him now. My mistake.

Arguement? I didn't present an arguement. I asked what proof it would take for you to beleive that something might have happened on July 14th. Answer the question, if you please.

Peanut gallery??? Let's just say the nuts are very well represented by you and your ilk.

Do you think the police just said "Hey, this woman says Russ Martin struck her and pulled a gun on her. Well, why don't we arrest him on her word alone?" Give me a break!!!!

And it's not just a news story. Have you bothered to read and understand the entire affidavit and warrant? Of course not.......because it's all just a bit...... ::)

I think you are a complete moron. What proof would I need? Maybe some type of evidence. I haven't seen ANYTHING that would make me believe he did it. You guys are trying to kill someone's career because of something that could be totally false.

Then you haven't bothered to read and understand the affidavit have you? ;D

Yes I've read it and I understand it. I'm just wondering why you keep referring back to it. It's just one side of a story. It's not evidence... it's a police report. Evidence would be pictures, the recording.. something other than.. this is what a woman told the police. I've been reading the posts on here since the story broke and the people that are so quick to decide he's a woman beater have just blown my mind. Wait for FACTS. I'm not some hardcore fan.. I listen to Russ when I can, which is almost never. He is a human being though, and he deserves to be seen as innocent until being proven guilty. It's just crazy how you have taken time out of YOUR DAY to write letters to everyone that has anything to do with 105.3 trying to get a INNOCENT (until proven guilty) man fired. Sounds like you have WAYYY too much free time in your day.

As someone who has been in an abuse situation I can say for sure that the cops do make arrests based on the word of one woman.

For proof, I'd like to know if there were any witnesses to this or any previous abuse, if photos of her injuries were taken and submitted in to evidence, or if there were any audio or video recordings of this incident. The police statement says that Mandy was waiting for Russ in her office waiting to record him. Where is that recording?? Russ also has a security system with cameras in the house. What did those show?

If there is legitimate proof of this assault then by all means he should be prosecuted. I'd just like to wait until the evidence is out there.

BTW the peanut gallery is a television reference and not commenting on anyone's sanity. Sorry to confuse you.

Exactly what I'm trying to say.

First off, I didn't write any letters. You have me confused with someone else.

Secondly, have you ever seen any prosecutor's office release pictures, recordings or any other evidence they have of an alledged crime to the public before trial? The affidavit/arrest warrant is part of public record and as such, can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act which is how the media outlets got hold of it. The evidence (if there is any and I expect there is) is to be presented at trial. Mr. Martin's defense counsel has the right to this evidence...not you, not me and not the media.

Flip side of the coin........where is Mr. Martin's evidence to the contrary of the alleged victim's statement? With everything that is at stake - Mr. Martin's job, his reputation and that of those on his show plus the very existance of the station - wouldn't you think that something...anything...that would shed any doubt on the victims's words have leaked by now? If he has proof that her statement is a flat out lie, wouldn't his attorney have given this to the DA by now so that Mr. Martin's good name would be cleared and charges would have been dropped?

Yeah, I know that many believe this is an elaborate bit. I would just like to have someone present a valid arguement to that end with relevant support, of course. No "it just doesn't ring true" or "it's sound's fishy". No - if she knew it was going to be bad or it happened before, why didn't she just leave? Present an arguement to support your ideas so that it can be debated intelligently. That's all I'm asking.

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

I think it would be good to put together some nice parody commercials for all the 105.3 sponsors and send them to them.

Doing a nice production quality commercial touting "Dukes as the place abusers go to eat", or "Call 1800-The-Dogs when you just have to smack that B... Up or kick your pregnant girlfriend down the stairs."

I bet you the sponsors would get a big kick out having their product and name tied in.

"Majestic Liquors, where you can get drunk enough to not care about beating your girlfriend."

"Russ Martin Automotive. They will NEVER be able to prove you ran her over."

"Vertbiz... we can host your torture porn and girlfriend abuse videos, we are the best in the business."

"Larry North - Don't be a weak sissyboy. Build up your muscles so that hair-pulling and kicking really punishes."

"Autoflex - the perfect gift to keep that no good skank quiet."

"Cutie Pies - When your girlfriend leaves you and you need a new punching bag."

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

For the record, I've never claimed this was a bit. I've just said that I don't have enough facts to be convinced that he is guilty. The facts will all come out sooner or later. I'd like to reserve my judgement til then.

HELL YEAH! I hope he talks about either his batmobile, his repair shop, Jack Daniels whisky, working out, or maybe he'll play the guitar! If we are lucky, maybe JD will tell him how awesome he looks, how well he plays his guitar, how cool his batmobile is, or how good he is at runing a shop! If we are lucky, maybe he will spend 45 minutes playing something JD said that he thinks sounds like the N-word! I, for one, hope to here his on air staff laugh at everythig he says and tell him how awesome he is. Man, I wish it was Monday right now. There goes my sleep for the next 2 nights! :-[

I couldn't agree more!!! He is abysmal at best. What a tool...

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

this is going to be tried in a court of law not in this silly forum. You are right Tah the D.A. does not release photos, tapes or anything else they may have. So all you idiots who NEED to see the proof just have to get on the jury.

"So all you idiots who NEED to see the proof just have to get on the jury."

really?

Wanting to see proof before assigning guilt or innocence makes a person an "idiot"...

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

Two interesting things on the website for the Tarrant Co DA, specifically on the FAQ section. They have a >90% conviction rate on felony charges. Also, the victim is not able to "drop the charges." The victim does not file the charges, therefore, they cannot drop them.

I'm seeing less and less of the "it's a bit" crowd - and more and more of the "let's wait and see what happens" crowd. I guess if he is ever convicted, or pleads down, it will be "a miscarraige of justice."

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

Ok maybe I'm a little confused on whether or not one can drop the charges. When I was sexually assaulted, I filed a police report and then later decided I didn't want deal with the stress of the trial. I called the detective in charge of my case and told them I no longer wanted to press charges. The case was dropped. Did I decide to drop the charges or was that the DA's call? (I'm really not being sarcastic here)

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

The STATE files the charges. That is why, when it goes to court it will be "The people of the State of Texas vs. Russ Martin" a/k/a the people. If it was a civil trial, it would be an individual vs. an individual (in this instance).

Do you think she pulled her own hair out?

In cases of domestic abuse, it's really taken out of the alleged victim's hands once they report it. The way things are done now are different than they used to be. Victims used to be pressured by their abusers to drop the charges or they dropped the charges out of a crazy sense of guilt. Now if the victim refuses to testify later or recants their story then I'm sure that's always a problem for the DA's office unless there is physical evidence to the contrary.

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

If Majestic truly pulled their advertising, it could be due to the rumored sale of the liquor chain rather than anything having to do with RM.

Re: The Return of Russ Martin

I have a question for all you Russ fans... Why has he not been on the air. One would think he would want to clear his good name?

Right..... cause that's how it works. He has been arrested and has pending legal action.

I think the decision to be on the air is out of his hands. But I am just going by the numerous news stories that quote David Henry as saying they are keeping him off the air for now.

Seriously?
