define "shortly". Like I said above, it's too late for me. They have had how long to produce this update? I'm ordering Gorman products tomorrow.
Hope you like the new Gorman stuff better than I liked the old Gorman stuff. Impossible to program without sending back to the factory. Same guy answered the phone every day but from day to day you'd get different people, depending on what kind of day he was having. Menu was not very intuitive. When that guy assumes room temperature, will there still be support for the products?Bengalsfan said:

I have been very happy with the new Sage units. I don't mind waiting a few more days for an update. I can log in and update it remotely, so it's no sweat off my back. The Endec is the basically the gold standard, so you can assume it will be well supported and updated in the future.

Ha ha, ok. Yes, ALL of the stations I do work for purchased the new blue DIGITAL Endecs. They are installed and I have done one firmware update on them already. It's possibly the easiest firmware updating process I have ever seen. It literally took less than one minute and I did it over remote desktop.
And if I recall correctly, the previous deadline was extended partly because the final CAP protocol had not been approved yet. So technically the Endecs were as compliant as they possibly could have been. As soon as Sage posts the next update, I will log in and do the process again.
But who knows, maybe Sage will drop the ball and miss the deadline. If that's the case, Clear Channel, Cumulus, CBS, TownSquare, etc will have thousands of stations that are "non-compliant". Even FEMA will be non-compliant! I guess I'm just not that worried about it. They know the system is in a transition period. But if you want to get upset at Sage be my guest, I have no dog in this fight.

I have 3 words to sum this up, "Digital Alert Systems". Gorman-Redlich, get real. The ones in my care never ever worked correctly. They needed to change their name to Gorman-Redneck. Sage never kept their promises about older Endecs being upgradable. Digital Alert has taken better care of the broadcaster for his or her EAS needs.

Looks like the next couple of weeks are gonna be busy. I might try waiting until 2am tomorrow morning before trying to download the update.

There was another update from Sage this morning. Apparently the 88.x update had some issues with some DNS configurations, so Sage released 89.x to (supposedly) cure that problem.

Updated 7 boxes with no issues, glad I waited for the update rather than putting in some of the illicit server addresses that were floating out there.
So my boxes all have the apps.fema.gov entry, is there anything else I need to add? We are located in Wisconsin, and I'm curious how I would find out if there is another server I should be looking at? And if so, do I need to add filtering much like I do the "over the air" alerts, or is this just treated like another source and the filtering I've set up still applies? Thanks.
