on the way shortly..please read. Free chill pills available..

define "shortly". Like I said above, it's too late for me. They have had how long to produce this update? I'm ordering Gorman products tomorrow.
Hope you like the new Gorman stuff better than I liked the old Gorman stuff. Impossible to program without sending back to the factory. Same guy answered the phone every day but from day to day you'd get different people, depending on what kind of day he was having. Menu was not very intuitive. When that guy assumes room temperature, will there still be support for the products?

Not his EAS box. I hate that damn thing. I'm talking about his CAP to EAS converter. It's $1300 bucks, about the cheapest thing I have found to make a station CAP compliant.

... I decided to edit my comment because I don't need to go picking fights...

I have been very happy with the new Sage units. I don't mind waiting a few more days for an update. I can log in and update it remotely, so it's no sweat off my back. The Endec is the basically the gold standard, so you can assume it will be well supported and updated in the future.

You wait until the last possible second to order your EAS unit... Totally Acceptable.
Sage waits until the last possible second to update a firmware... Completely Unacceptable.
Pot, meet Kettle.

I do contract engineering for 30+ stations and ALL of them upgraded before the PREVIOUS deadline.

Most of my clients purchased digital Sage units with the assumption those units would be ready in time, after all, they were type accepted by the FCC and FEMA. The 10 stations I have who wisely waited to update their EAS equipment will be getting equipment ready to go out of the box and will not be at the mercy of a manufacture who can't seem to get their ducks in a row.

That being said, Please accept this cardboard cookie for being the good little boy scout and getting all of your little toy ducks in a row before the teacher came back in the classroom. I'm assuming your 30+ stations, none of them purchased Digital ENDEC units?

So then when you said this, "I do contract engineering for 30+ stations and ALL of them upgraded before the PREVIOUS deadline." you were not being truthful since the Sage boxes are NOT CAP compliant yet.

Ha ha, ok. Yes, ALL of the stations I do work for purchased the new blue DIGITAL Endecs. They are installed and I have done one firmware update on them already. It's possibly the easiest firmware updating process I have ever seen. It literally took less than one minute and I did it over remote desktop.

And if I recall correctly, the previous deadline was extended partly because the final CAP protocol had not been approved yet. So technically the Endecs were as compliant as they possibly could have been. As soon as Sage posts the next update, I will log in and do the process again.

But who knows, maybe Sage will drop the ball and miss the deadline. If that's the case, Clear Channel, Cumulus, CBS, TownSquare, etc will have thousands of stations that are "non-compliant". Even FEMA will be non-compliant! I guess I'm just not that worried about it. They know the system is in a transition period. But if you want to get upset at Sage be my guest, I have no dog in this fight.

I have 3 words to sum this up, "Digital Alert Systems". Gorman-Redlich, get real. The ones in my care never ever worked correctly. They needed to change their name to Gorman-Redneck. Sage never kept their promises about older Endecs being upgradable. Digital Alert has taken better care of the broadcaster for his or her EAS needs.

You know, I just had this discussion with a client today who asked "are we ready for the June 30th deadline?"

I answered no, you're not. And neither is anyone else.

Anyone got an IP address for a CAP/IPAWS server in the NJ area?? I sure don't.

I also have that same question, but for Southern California. Any information would be appreciated. ???

From Sage's website (6/12):

We plan to release the IPAWS support firmware before 1:00pm EDT today.

Looks like the next couple of weeks are gonna be busy. I might try waiting until 2am tomorrow morning before trying to download the update.

On some of my units after i updated i see a "cap settings" button on the left side of the home page and others do not, But all have CAP Status: OK.
Has anyone else noticed this?

There was another update from Sage this morning. Apparently the 88.x update had some issues with some DNS configurations, so Sage released 89.x to (supposedly) cure that problem.

All the ones I have updated so far have the CAP settings button. However, if your CAP status is "ok" you should be golden. 4 units updated yesterday, 15 more to go!

Updated 7 boxes with no issues, glad I waited for the update rather than putting in some of the illicit server addresses that were floating out there.

So my boxes all have the apps.fema.gov entry, is there anything else I need to add? We are located in Wisconsin, and I'm curious how I would find out if there is another server I should be looking at? And if so, do I need to add filtering much like I do the "over the air" alerts, or is this just treated like another source and the filtering I've set up still applies? Thanks.

I also logged into the webinar FEMA put on last week outlining the June 30th deadline. If anyone wants to check it out, then follow this link.

https://eiip.webex.com/mw0306ld/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=eiip&service=6

Thanks for the link 65. I finally took some time this morning to watch it and they mentioned the PEP stations along with their 'station in a box' build-out; additionally, they mentioned WBT in Charlotte, NC.

I wanted to see the facility on Google Earth as well as on radio-locator.com and was surprised to see that it's not licensed.... http://radio-locator.com/info/WBT-AM

Couldn't find a current license on fcc.gov either.
