Schauffler Leaving KING 5

Al Jazeera is a pretty good news network. They're non-commercial (Qatar puts a LOT of money into Al Jazeera, but then again when you're as RICH as Qatar is, you got money to burn anyway) and pretty in depth and not politically biased. (unlike the "Fair And Balanced" channel that ironically is filled with right wing reactionaries.)

Alan Schauffler and Rebecca Stevenson are very talented and experienced broadcasters who will make a nice paycheck, but no one will see them. Hey... it's steady work!

Rebecca Stevenson confirmed on her twitter today that she is at Al Jazeera America ... she moved to NYC in June to set up the weather dept.

Good for her. It's good for her to be back in the weather business. She's cute too and I miss her on KIRO.

I like AJA....A little dry (like anything Al Jazeera does), but it's better than screaming matches and gossip......

Remember, it's Al-Jazeera America. A new branch of what's turning into one of the most respected news organizations in the world. A nice competitor for BBC. And what I saw yesterday on their debut was just as good as what I saw from Al-Jazeera English last time I was in Paris.

Wish they spent a little less time for discussion shows in the morning, and just stuck with straight spot news reports til at least 9am Pacific time. It could take me away from a lifelong radio-in-the-morning routine, since I find less and less of substance on the radio anymore.

As for CNN and fox, please don't mistake most of what they do for news. If I wanted your opinion on what you're reporting, I'd ask for it. Otherwise, keep the sneers and gossipy inflection for anonymous postings on web boards like this, and not in a "news program," please!

And if "Corporate Suite" thinks there's something inherently evil about a news organization that's based in an Arab country, what about one that's owned by a citizen of communist China (ie Rupert Murdoch)?

You're What with Corporate Suit? Can't you articulate what the heck you're trying to imply? Or it is a gut feeling you can really put into words? Come on, try. We're all here to learn from one another.

Must be Rebecca Stevenson's burqa. And did anyone see the AK-47 Allen Schauffler was holding up while screaming jihad to America?

It never ceases to amaze me what some people actually believe about Al Jazeera without even watching them..... ::)

Exactly! And, @placebo, it actually ended very well because we have thoughtful, articulate people on this Seattle board.

Haha.. Well, I apologize for making anyone mad.. that certainly was not my intention. Nobody has to share the same opinion though. You can watch the station or you can choose not to!

So why aren't you going to watch the station?

So coporatesuit and fordranger, why are you so insistent on not watching a channel that has only been on for a few days?

I plan to watch Al Jazerra to see how Rebecca Stevenson and Allen Schauffler do, but I don't have access for a while, because where I am located right now (relatives in Marysville), they only get basic cable (Not limited basic) with On Demand, etc. They don't have the digital package.

Why no response from CorporateSuit and fordranger797 on the question about why they won't watch Al-Jazeera America?

(and since this is my first visit and post since the upgrade, thanks for the profile visit, Larry. Nice to know you still care :) )
