Schnitt Checking Out Of Tampa Completely

Dont worry bout Cedric, He is just a caricature of a $8 per hour producer

Is that what you make an hour, Jerkyboy? As I've stated multiple times, I'm quite content with my present employment. My lifestyle right now is the best it's been as far back as I can remember. I've been working in radio for the past decade, and I've probably have worked with "iwantontheradio" in the past. So, they're aware of my proficiency, and they know I know my s***. I'd send some airchecks, but I'm pretty sure the deadline has already passed. ;D

The deadline never passes for the RIGHT candidate, only the "settle for" candidate.

And Jeff....you email me and i ask for a phone number and I get no response. Are you scared to show your talent? I really wish you would send an audio file. You still have some time. I just wanted to talk to you briefly first but we don't have to do that. Just send it in.

And Cedric...I don't know you. I was brought down here from market 10 to get this done. I'm a talent creator - 30 years experience.

You received no legitimate email from me. I have an email address on file and other information with the boards and have nothing to hide or be "scared" of. If you wondered if it was legit, you could have emailed me back for clarification. I am reachable, and if you call me, I'm liable to talk your ear off, so, you have been warned.

My concerns are more apprehensive and cautious due to the nature of your handle and demeanor in the posts.

The handle leaves me to think you are not interested in hiring anyone, in fact is the reverse. It sounds as though you were starting a new broadcasting school and are using the Ronco/Billy Mays approach.

You have had 15 posts and each of them have been questionable at best - adversarial, at least.

We can get cynical in this board, but when someone is offering us a job on here in the blind, there is a certain amount of optimism but we would take that much seriously than you have presented here.

Because Radio is something we do take seriously.

I'll make this clear once again - - - Not a single applicant will be asked for a penny nor is it to join some sort of school. This is an attempt to find new talent. Our industry was decimated by the recession. Some estimates put it at 55% layoff since 2008. There is a lot of idle talent out there. Also, I think there is talent that have no radio experience. I am looking to see both. That's all. After that - we will move forward quite rapidly.

I completely understand your concerns it's the conjecture I disagree with.

There would be no reason to be so secretive if you were offering a real job. How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you just say you're looking for a radio host? You haven't even mentioned what market you're in. You could easily say, I'm looking for talent for a sports or news show, or I work for Clearchannel or CBS without giving away anything. As others here have said or hinted towards, I'd be absolutely shocked if you were offering a paid position hosting or co-hosting on an actual radio station. This reaks of help me launch my internet radio station or brokered show on Tan Talk. It certainly doesn't smell of actual on air opportunity.

Anyway, back to Schnitt... WFLA PD says "we're looking for the next local host on WFLA". His coyness on the slot appointed to said "next local host" doesn't rule out moving up Hannity from 6 PM to 3 PM. I'm with Sarasota Jim on this one.

3 to 6 has been live and local on WFLA for a very long time. I'd like to see them keep it that way, but I suspect we will be hearing Hannity at 3. I dunno if it's true, but I heard he has been threatening to pull off of larger market stations that don't air his show live. Maybe that's what's going on here?

Certainly a possibility, although I'm not sure moving back to 820 for the sake of being live is a good alternative. But the syndicators definitely want to be able to tell advertisers that their spots will run live in as many markets as possible.

Part of me hopes that MJ quit because he got tired of pretending to be Rush Limbaugh. We know Sean Hannity isn't leaving, so all I'm really concerned about is who ends up filling in that other three hours. Will it be another Rush clone? Will they run more of the Mark Levin show? Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's going to nauseate me.

Mark Larsen makes sense to me...

Schnitt has NEVER been "local." His 3 to 6 show on WFLA was always focused on national news stories rather than what was happening in Tampa Bay, which was one of the biggest complaints about it.

He didn't even start out in Tampa. He was originally broadcast only in Miami from 3 to 6.

For the love of Darwin, will you guys please stop trying to get Mark Larsen every job that opens up in this market. He is finished as a full-time, five day a week host in the Tampa Bay market.

Cleveland Wheeler has a better chance of getting a full-time gig than Mark does.

Not the case.

Would love Cleveland back on the air here
