Julius May said:I hate to say this but 1210 needs to let him go and get someone else to do morning drive. Do you agree with that?BRNout said:This has REALLY been evident over the past several months; particularly since they retooled the format of the morning show to remove news and other typical elements. At this point, he's become very annoying and is pretty much a tune out - which contrasts with my opinion of him a year ago when I tended to listen every day. He now comes off as very egotistical and somewhat obnoxious.
I do not see that happening because Smerconish is their "signature" personality and the show is doing well, apparently. CBS Radio considers him to be the star of their station and they are probably more interested in keeping him happy than vice versa - as long as the numbers are good. And, he is far too smart to say anything that will get him fired. So Smerco will be there until such time as a better gig arises. And my guess would be that such a gig would probably be somewhere like MSNBC - as opposed to radio in another city.
Ratings may be good, but I still find his show too self-serving and egotistical for my personal tastes. He is making Rush sound humble. :
