So What's going on at 98.1

Also, 100.3 is shooting ads that are for Pensacola.. why?

Yeah, I noticed adds for a business in Beulah and one in Cantonment. Probably just left over customers from the 98.1 days. They'll be gone soon.

Also, remember, Pensacola has no Sports station and reception of 105.5 from Mobile is impossible. 100.3 comes in on car radios over here and I'm sure sports nuts have added some foil to their antennas to pick up 100.3. It's our only over the air option... good thing football season ends Thursday.

This is definitely one of the most bizarre and confusing radio takeovers i have ever heard about. ??? It seems like they are doing the same stunt albeit less sophisticated as I100 did earlier. Looping songs from different genre's to keep us guessing. I'm still pretty convinced it's going to be some sort of rock format. It's in Quantum's best interest to go after 99 rock.

I think most were under the impression that 98.1 would debut its new format on January 1st. Then again, perhaps, management is purposely waiting to throw the rest of us "off course" as part of the stunting.

Remember that Qantum filed with the FCC that they needed 30 days to replace equipment to get the station back up to 100kw. I would assume that they will debut when they are done testing the new equipment. Why debut a new format at 1kw?
If they are able to stick to that 30 day window, the station should be back up to 100kw in about a week.

And if you're looking for a format clue... notice that they haven't played any country, urban, or top-40/CHR songs while stunting?

"Dead Skunk in the middle of the road....stinking to high heaven"

man I haven't heard that song in decades....great "stunt" song

Yes.com hasn't been updated, so for all y'all wondering.... at midnight we started to "Rock Around The Clock". Hint?

Poledo your right on Yes.com WRKN keep playing Kenny G Silhouette I think they didnt updates it at all. So what u guys can tell us what WRKN 98.1 doing now anything happening?

well, hopefully they will be up at full power. none the less your sister station STILL is advertising for pensacola (why??)

(THE TICKET's audience was a mix between p'cola and fwb last I remember, how will they fill the missing gap?)
If you look @ their forms on sportstalktheticket.com ,you can see a lot of pissed off people who have jumped ship due to the decreased ERP.)

Rock around the clock sounds like a blah reversion done by Bill Haley?? So, that about narrows it down and I HOPE it's not country.. (bleh)

I haven't looked at the Ticket's website since about Thanksgiving... thanks for bringing it back to my attention Rob. There is a whole lot of chatter on there from upset people that want sports back on their radio. I think one of the posters is Rob.

It's kinda funny that people blogging on there seem to think that 100.3 (Class A) will soon be upgraded to have better coverage than 98.1 (Class C1). I believe the post said they would soon be back on the air from "Fairhope to Panama City"

The ONLY chance I can see for the Ticket to get back to Pensacola would be to get the christians to give up control of 95.7 in Navarre. Other than that, maybe Clear Channel or Cumulus will look into sports for the Pensacola/Mobile market. 104.1 and 107.3 would make good sports stations.

Is there any chance in hell that Qantum might try sports or 98.1? Nah.

We started this all off on December 29th with the Teddy Bears and now we've progressed to the Trashmen. The song of the day is an all time classic, "Surfing Bird."

The obvious hint today seems to point at a return of the NEW 98 Surf... Nah, never gonna happen.

My guess Oldies to 98.1? yes.com is playing that Trashmen Surf Bird then they play The Beatles Stawberry Fields again after that. and now Kenny G again with Sitlhouette. Now what all these 3 songs have in condom looping around over and over again? I know it's not going to be Smooth Jazz b/c of WSBZ-FM 106.3 The Seabreeze.

Now 1 of the website from Wikipedia saying that 98.1 Holt Florida is The Move
On Monday, 09 November, 2009 Quantum Communications took ownership of 98.1 WTKE FM. As of 11-November-2009, the station is now stunting with a 24 hour Christmas Music format. On January 1, 2010, WTKE had the song New Year's Day by U2 replayed throughout the day. Rumours abound that it may become the new home for WYZB boasting @ 100,000 watts.

Is that ture?

Louis, Yes is wrong. Since December 30, 2009, 98.1 FM plays ONE song a day in a continuous loop.

Here's a cheat sheet for ya:

Before Nov 8, 2009 - 98.1 "The Ticket"
Nov 12 - Dec 29 - 98.1 "The Christmas station"
Dec 30 - The Teddy Bears
Dec 31 - Dan Fogelberg
Jan 01 - U2
Jan 02 - ??? a piano???
Jan 03 - The Beatles
Jan 04 - Loudon Wainwright III
Jan 05 - Kenny G
Jan 06 - Bill Haley
Jan 07 - The Trashmen
Jan 08 -
Jan 09 -
Jan 10 -

Man, that list took me too long to compile, feel free to copy and paste it Rob.

NO Urban, Country or Top-40 songs... yet.

If they keep stunting, I like the idea of playing Surf music as a tribute to the old station. Maybe Dick Dale next? Or throw a real curve and play Man or Astroman?.

If I'm reading this ass-backwards, you could go in the other direction. As I recall 102.1 used to be Classic Rock "The Eagle." Maybe the "bird" will turn out to be a new "Eagle" or maybe another station will Fly over to 98.1.

I really don't know anything at all. Bring in the experts!

Has anyone looked at qantumfwb.com lately? The temporary site lists their TWO Fort Walton stations, WWAV and WMXZ. Humm, what about 92.1 and 98.1?
