Hey, while everyone was watching ALABAMA WIN THE BCS! Someone was messing up the format on 98.1. Before midnight they were looping "Nothing From Nothing" and after midnight they were looping "A Little Less Conversation".
All I can say is that they're up to (at least) TWO songs a day.
Didn't catch the TOH ID... distracted by something on TV and my Tivo remote doesn't seem to work on the SuperRadio.
Could be Highway 98 or I-98. Either way, it works. FWIW, it could surface (finally) as CHR i98--a carbon of WJLQ--which could trigger a C&D from Crumulus. But I'll put my $1.50--no, wait--make it 98 cents--on Country.
Always remember, Ladies & Gentlemen of the radio-info.com boards, us money-grubbing broadcast executive types ain't doing this to provide more variety for your dining and dancing pleasure. It's all about making money. And in FWB, Country is where the money is. Blast 105.5 out of the water and force THEM to change. Maybe then you'll get something different. ;D
As of 11:30pm tonight they were playing "American Pie" over and over again. There's no telling what the new format will be but they are doing a good job of making us wonder.

Don Mclean's American Pie could be an indicator that country is on the way since country has always been looked upon as All American Music and as American as apple Pie. [Hint]
and who will fill in the classic rock gap as 96.1 starts crapping out in FWB?
maybe danbo would be wise to maybe put 102.1 back to pure classic rock?? though the new format does well..
i must be one in a few who hate country down here.. bleh
I was goin to read all the way through before I chimed in, and the LAST post by Rob nailed what I wanted to say...
While a "Country 98" or "US 98" would make for some fun, creative branding for a country station, it would also be one of like....7 I can listen to at any given time.
Country isn't an impossibility, but I'm telling you...with the right marketing a Classic Rock, or hell...just ROCK format would make good sense here.
We have 99, and we have TK. TK is pretty much active rock, and 99 with all due respect is all over the place trying to be everything to everyone.
I'll just wait w/the rest of you and see what happens...I've not listened yet today.....
LMAO...cuz those boys are SLOBS! Dave Kuntz, Mad Mike and I are the ONLY ones that ever cleaned up the K-ROCK side....I've not been up there in over 2 years....
To the guy who's name I can't remember that said he might not be qualified to respond to my post....DUDE, you're a listener, and as such probably MORE qualified than me on some points. You know what sounds good and what doesn't...I'm jaded by my own wants and ego...lmao
I can't see though, Top 40 in Destin. They would directly conflict w/ Fly and that "party station" branding. Oldies? Nope. Snowbirds aren't around long enough.
top 2 formats w/ Military...Country and ROCK. Country is God Mother and Country, and Rock is FIGHT MUSIC. Both of which are in high demand in a nation at war.
Personally, I'm hoping for a rocker......I REALLY NEED A JOB......lmao
Still...you don't think AC would get into the "Psuedo Jack" format at The Wave?
Only 2 strong formats that wouldn't directly collide w/ their revenue stream IMHO would be Country or a Rocker, and Country is already pretty thinly spread around here.....
