So who/what is going to replace Burbank? Does anyone know yet?

how far has Channel 5 fallen?

Last Friday 12/28, The top story on the 5 at 5 was the reveal of who the hosts are....(im sure the people at "the 8044" -- for you midwestxtfiles -- were happy)

No one noticed.

If Derrick says it and no one sees it, did it happen?

ya know what makes me feels sick and sad?.....
what would really be sad is for another cincy legend, jerry--lets have a brawl while we find new ways to gross out the tv audience-springer to replace garrish. when wtam decided to replace jerry they had on air auditions between bob frantz, chuck booms, brad sussman, chuck galetti, bob becker and others. because of his preparation and ability to roll with hot breaking news, frantz won the job. was he my first choice? no, i would have preferred sussman. becker, sussman and galetti all fill in for wills, frantz and triv when they take vacation. replacing garrish, a true one-off radio legend will be a lot more difficult then replacing sewer mouth jerry....pitts off--

"Kiesewetter reports it'll be a Tracy Jones/Eddie Fingers show...guess we'll know more today."

Lovely. Ed Fingers, I can handle. TRACY JONES??? God help us! Oughta call him up to tell him "I played radio...you didn't".

If they wanted a true entertainment show, they should have thrown a pile of money at Marty Bender, and reunited Bender and Fingers.

Tracy FREAKIN' JONES???? This business is indeed doomed.

I guess Super Suck should have stayed around for a couple more months...finally a team Furman had a chance...no I'm kidding...

Great post. I have to agree. Tracy Jones? The idea of reuniting Bender and Fingers is an excellent idea. The majority of males that listened to them 20 something years ago mostly listen to WLW these days. They could easily fill Burbank's shoes. Money would be the big issue here. I'm assuming Marty Bender is still a key figure with the production of the 'Bob And Tom' show? ("I played radio...you didn't") LOL.

Heck, if they were going to deliver the "entertainment" show CC promised, they should have given the show to Bob "The Producer" Berry! He is probably the most truly funny, original, creative minds in Cincinnati! A show featuring Bob would be worth hearing!

Poor Eddie...he finally gets his dream gig and he's slapped in the studio with a Bill Cunningham wanabe without the charm.

They're probably looking to dump Eddie's salary, what a cruel way to do it....

Yeah...feel sorry for poor Eddie...he gets away from a gig that he was clearly burned out on...keeps on working and drawing his check. Man...what kind of world would let that happen. I am sure it was TOTALLY against his will.

Eddie and Tracy's show has no real purpose. Just two guys talking on the radio about anything that comes to mind. It doesn't make much sense to do this.

And why did CC bother wth the teases? Just put the darn show on as soon as Burbank's time was over. Obviously, there was no non-compete clause for Eddie, and they weren't keeping a secret from their direct competitors because the only one is their co-owned 55-KRC.

...

I listened today for about 15 minutes. I agree. The two man team seems to be one man too many. There's really no reason for these two people to be on the radio with each other in the same show.

It must be planned that one of these guys will probably soon inherit the gig with the other one 'moving on'. Or possibly neither of them getting the gig with a real host arriving later.

Maybe they are working Tracy Jones into the afternoon/early evening time slot in preparation for him taking over Sports Talk from Paul Daugherty (who really never sounds like he is enjoying being the host of the show).

I've been thinking that too...that Jones will get 'suspended' or 'demoted to SportsTalk' or some kind of schtick like that.

Didn't Gary announce his retirement in the spring? Ten months later he's replaced by two guys who sound like they just met?

Even if the pairing is just a bit....that is pretty pathetic work on the part of the PD. Although, he WAS pretty busy killing SuperTalk via a barage of internet mocking, locking down a deal with the elusive Alan Cutler, and fine tuning his own show that must somehow carry on without Sensible Don.

I concur. The show is rather dull. The highlight seems to be when Bill Denison does his sports reports.

What happened to Sensible Don?
