z-z-z-z-z-z-z if he was that great he'd still be at his old station

looks like there is a PD opening as well....For what I assume is CD 106.3

From AllAcess:

PM Drive/PD Lexington, KY AC
Need a PM Drive/PD combination. Do you understand strategy? Do you have a great work ethic and an understanding of how to program to a female AC listener in 2008? Do you have promotional creativity? Can you coach talent face to face as well as long distance? Do you want to work in an environment that demands out of the box thinking? Email resume and talent samples only to [email protected]. An equal opportunity employer of a privately owned company. All replies are 100% confidential.

Not necessarily. It's Clear Channel, so that gives them the right to program according to the direction of the wind. CC is looking for people that drink the Koolaid. Dale doesn't. It's radio and it's a biz...that's why they call it the radio biz. Good people lose jobs for bad reasons all the time, just like bad people get jobs for bad reasons. It happens.

that job is with WGKS

Isn't that one of Lynn Martin's stations? Whatever is coming, don't expect it to cost very much. Lynn is the cheapest owner I know.

My LM experience was visiting the facility ten years ago out on Greendale Rd (1300 transmitter site). The place was a dump. They added office space to the transmitter building and to enter the new part you walked through a hole in a wall as if somebody took a sledge hammer and made an entrance. The lobby was the size of my bathroom and had a hole in the wall. The place was infested with bugs, rodents and potential visitors from two prisons within walking distance. If you had a butter knife or similar object then you had a key to the place. At the time there were three stations there and Martin was looking for more properties. Technically it was held together just enough to function. Phil (forgot his last name) who used to work at WLAP was the engineer. Phil had the ability to make things better but had no budget and was forced to spend his time fulfilling LM's "pie in the sky" wish to make 1300 a 50kw facility, which never happened or could've happened. Of course 1300 as it is has the best nighttime signal in Lexington but what do I know.....

I understand they have moved to downtown to better facilities but just the same I hope Dale doesn't have his hopes too high.

Proofreading it several hours later, that should read "never happened and couldn't happen."

Now back to our regular thread........

"Something great and wonderful" has already been done on WMXL six months ago.. Just what we need more corporate radio!

My guess.. The only difference between these two stations will be music and jingles. WMXL will continue to play a ton of gold and only proven new music with no jingles or "hype". (boring radio for us radio folks but it works for them in other markets) WCDA will drop most of the 80s stuff and play games with the labels, they will be unfamiliar and heavy on station jingles.

WMXL: (94.5)
MY LIFE, MY MUSIC
Website - mymix945.com

WCDA: (106.3)
YOUR MUSIC, YOUR STATION
Website - your1063.com

I don't see much change coming in the ratings.. In the Spring book WMXL will be up a little because of the gold they are playing, tsl will be behind this growth. Fall book is always BIG for WMXL because of the christmas music. WCDA won't see much if any movement during the spring book because of these changes, May 19th is just to late. Any movement in the first two phases for WCDA will be directly related to the "great and wonderful" changes WMXL made after the Fall book. WCDA could be sorry they made any changes. WCDA will never beat WMXL during the Fall.

One more thought.. not sure the Bob & Sherri move is smart, if you look at the ratings (I can only see 12+ numbers/dayparts) it seems the only thing not broken on WCDA was Bob & Sherri. They came close to beating WMXL a number of times.. the size of WCDA's signal seems to be the biggest issue.

Thats my two, thoughts?

WCDA - 3,700 kw vs. WMXL - 85,000 kw

Mix has the better advantage with signal.

AND resources. Tease CC all you want about cheap and budget freezes and all but that's nothing compared to the operational M.O. of Lynn Martin's operations. If the best you can do is lead your day and your station with WMXL's rejects, that speaks volumes.
