KFYI #1 - It somehow makes me wonder if the illigals have learned english by listening to 5-fifty and have been filling out the books in their stolen Identities...
I wonder if Bonneville has chased away all their listeners, with the exception of 2.2?

In all that matters, 25-54, KTAR AM and FM come out the big winner. KFYI is a 2.6, while KTAR FM is a 2.5 and KTAR AM is a 2.5. They now have, over at Bonneville, a nice 5 share 25-54 in the combo!

The 12+ is irrelevant, which is why they give it away.

No offense, but potentially, this is the silliest argument I've ever heard. You are saying that two stations owned by the same company but with completely different formats (albeit same calls) are beating a 'competitor'. Well, la-dee-fricken-da! How about this: ClearChannel combined beats out Bonneville. I mean, what foolishness is that? "KTAR AM and FM beat out KFYI" - one is a sports station, the other is news/talk.

You know who else is beating out KFYI? If you combine CBS Radio's KOOL and KMLE... what point does that prove? nothing really, except two stations can combine to have a higher share of the audience, great. In all probability, two people combine to make more income than I do exclusively.

Yes folks, these are the people that are a part of the radio biz, can't imagine why it's in the state that it's in. Sheesh.

Dude..go talk to your sales manager about the above info.
He'll educate you on the business of radio.

These three were rockin' compared to the real elevator music on KMEO. That is, until KMEO joined the AC war as Sunny 97.

Then transitioned to Oldies with a far superior product to KOOL-FM, only to be left high and dry when TMISU sold the station to Nationwide and exited Phoenix. They would pay dearly to re-enter.

Actually, Bonneville flipped 96.9 from Oldies to 70's "K-Hits" around (I believe) December 1995. They sold to Nationwide who changed it to Eagle 96.9 "All Classic Hits" in 1997. Nationwide sold to Jacor one year later, and Mix 96.9 was born in September 1998.

Actually the calls TMISU put on the AM (KIDR 7~Forty) are still there. But the kid format aint.

Actually, I recall at one point in the "oldies wars" between
KOOL and KPSN (yes, it was p.c. to say oldies then) where
94.5 pitched up their CD players a bit to try to sound more
"up" than 96.9. A newer-tech version of speeding up the
turntables to 46 or 47 RPM (KCBQ = 48 ) but it just didn't
sound right on FM.

BTW, are we supposed to start each reply now with "actually"? ;D

Actually, it's up to you to decide to use "actually" at the beginning of each post.

Has anyone seen Michael Hagarty of late? Nurse Jeff and I know he has a wealth of tasty information about Sunny 97, KPSN. Hmmmmmm...we wonder if anyone ever stuck an "i" between the second and their letters?

Actually, Mr. Hagerty would also be well-versed on the later 96.9
incarnation (KGLQ) when he sidekicked AMD with CVD.

There's also Joel Grey. PD then...and PD now (think Drake segue
liner), but of different stations.

How about the Stevemeister? 2-6 on KPSN then, 9-2 on KOOL now.
And after last weekend's Splish Splash, he probably went directly
to his aircheck files to see if Larry Dixon on WAPE really did hit the
post on Reach Out I'll Be There ("9:14 with the Four Tops...").
He did. ;)

Actually Danny Davis (now of Kay-Oh-Why) could dish out some dirt on KPSN!

Nurse Jeff and I actually recall vacationing one summer at Myrtle Beach listening to Larry Dixon on the Big Ape, WAPE 6~Ninety, out of Jacksonville. We were actually hoping he'd call us in the TeleBookaLooka contest so we could claim a bucket of fried chicken from Winn-Dixe! Actually happened!!

Actually, the "answer your phone with 'I listen to the mighty 690 WAPE'
contest" was much better. Larry gave away $176.14. The winner couldn't
believe it. A few minutes later he gave away a six-pack of records in the
"instant ripoff" contest. I'd probably take the chicken over that.

Now some of the hard-core radio buffs here on the board are scrambling to
their collections, wondering what aircheck was that from? ;)

Actually we'd take the records...what passes for fried chicken is a real eye opener! Nothin' like a mega tower sittin' on the edge of the Atlantic with 50kw of music pow-pow-power pumpin' through the salt air. Unfortunately the Nurse and I had to leave the east coast as that same salt air was doin' a number on our Gremlin!

Actually, Bonneville called it "Sunny 97".

As AC and oldies, it was "Sunny 97". It became "K-Hits" (KCHT/KHTC) when they flipped to all-70's. Bonneville did all that. :)
