Stern Gets Sirius with Bubba

Re: YOUR ALL STUPID!

anyone here ever listen to Phil Hendrie? apparently not, no one seems to mention his CREATIVE style of radio. he can definitely lead a show without say "sh*t" "f^ck" a$$ or have strippers make out on his show and still be entertaining.

you pay for your fancy satellite radio, i'm with they guy who says there is PLENTY of good free programming on terrestrial radio and mcdonalds will love me for it!

Phil Hendrie is an amazing talent, no argument from me on that. But consider that even he has had his content severely restricted in comparison with how he used to be able to do his shows. Howard Stern has talked on-air about how he'd love to bring Hendrie to Sirius -- the guy is great. But don't think that Hendrie now vs. Hendrie in 2001 is going to be the same thing, as he's had to "tone it down" in this era of paranoia in radio.

Terrestrial radio will still have a place, but with all of the exclusive offerings on Sirius, there's a distinct value there for people who are subscribers. If you're content with terrestrial radio, then good for you. But I know plenty of people who have satellite radio, and not one of them has had anything but positive things to say about it.<P ID="signature">______________

You are right. I have no earthly idea what I'm talking about. I will just do what "the voice" tells me to do. I have no business posting anything.

Very good points, let me add another

I'm gonna bring this from the sports perspective. Sirius, as is well documented, has the NFL contract, as well as the NBA and NHL and some NCAA contracts (and for the record, XM also has some NCAA contracts)-so yes, the music choices are many. And to folks looking merely at the music and talk end of things, sure some chocies are also available on radio. But bring this back to the sports end of things-listening to terrestrial radio, I'll use football for the example here-how many games were offered today on the radio? I bet it was mainly the local area teams, possibly Notre Dames game as well on radio... Well, on Sirius, at one time, a fan had the choice between Notre Dame/Michigan St, Oklahoma/UCLA, the AUburn game (sorry, forgot who they played), the Alabama/South carolina game, Nebraska/Pittsburgh, the list can go on. Tomorrow, we will have every NFL game being played, not just the local team and the national broadcast (in my case, that doesn't apply, no local team here). Sure you can purchase the deal from the leagues to listen online, but what good does that do the person on the road? None whatsoever.

Both sides have their pros and cons, and just like some people don't like anchoives on their pizza, others do. Some folks don't like satellite radio, others love it.
