Very good points, let me add another
I'm gonna bring this from the sports perspective. Sirius, as is well documented, has the NFL contract, as well as the NBA and NHL and some NCAA contracts (and for the record, XM also has some NCAA contracts)-so yes, the music choices are many. And to folks looking merely at the music and talk end of things, sure some chocies are also available on radio. But bring this back to the sports end of things-listening to terrestrial radio, I'll use football for the example here-how many games were offered today on the radio? I bet it was mainly the local area teams, possibly Notre Dames game as well on radio... Well, on Sirius, at one time, a fan had the choice between Notre Dame/Michigan St, Oklahoma/UCLA, the AUburn game (sorry, forgot who they played), the Alabama/South carolina game, Nebraska/Pittsburgh, the list can go on. Tomorrow, we will have every NFL game being played, not just the local team and the national broadcast (in my case, that doesn't apply, no local team here). Sure you can purchase the deal from the leagues to listen online, but what good does that do the person on the road? None whatsoever.
Both sides have their pros and cons, and just like some people don't like anchoives on their pizza, others do. Some folks don't like satellite radio, others love it.
