News flash...I hear KMCQ IS programmed locally. Unless you know something different...

TVradioguru said:Anyone who claims sales haven't fallen off at least 30% over the past three years either wasn't doing that well to begin with or are not being truthful. Sales are coming back slowly, and most operations have had to balance expense cuts with slowing increasing revenue, but nobody is back to where they were yet. That holds true with whatever size market one chooses to site.
i'll supply the chisel, if anyone wants to engrave this statement on a stone monument.Tunedinvp said:Since the beginning of consolidation, Radio has tried to automate humanity and that just doesn't work. I can only speak for myself, I only know what I know. My sales have risen every year since we began in 1997 until 2006, and many of those years it was up double digits. We then had 4 years of slight revenue decreases, ranging from a bit over 1% drop in 2007 to the worst year, 2009, which was down slightly over 10%. We came back in 2010 with a 7.5% increase, and so far in six months of 2011 we are up 7% from same period last year. We are pacing to be within 3% of our peak in 2006. Sorry if this is off topic but goo roo made a blanket statement based on insufficient information.TVradioguru said:Anyone who claims sales haven't fallen off at least 30% over the past three years either wasn't doing that well to begin with or are not being truthful. Good to see local communities coming back to advertising where it counts. I think it can be challenging (how many times have you heard "I turn it as soon as a commercial comes on!") but it must work somehow. I know if I hear a *good* radio ad or a radio campaign that dovetails with a TV campaign, it certainly stays with me and doesn't make me tune out.Bill Wolfenbarger said:I can only speak for myself, I only know what I know. Well please accept my sincere congratulations Bill. You and Savage appear to be the only station owners in the lower fourty eight who haven't been affected by the economy. It's simply amazing. Your collections must be nearly 90%+, yet in a small market. How do you do it? Lots of expensive local talent and no automation? Broadcast from an affluent community? Wait..Let me guess, you play only requests from listeners.
Of course there are ways that small stations show sales or revenue pacing higher. Examples such as: Holding all your payables to 60 or more end of a year so your net is higher. Or in some instances siting a 3% increase on a total revenue of $3,000 in a month. But hey, even though only a few bucks, technically still a 3% increase! I'm sure there are more examples, none of which would apply to your operation Bill.

bill, i never knew this! so, if its not too much trouble could you play an old merle haggard song: "movin on"? um, after that, would it be possible to also play a song by the late great keith whitley, and dedicate it to my ex? its an old hit called "im over you". and um, would it be too much trouble to play this on KBKW, since thats where i tune? and would it be possible to play this on monday? would it be too much to ask if it was played at 3:30 PM, and you could just silence savage for a few minutes. chances are, he'll be off nursing a weekend hangover anyway. oh and hey, i got a few more songs. um, could you also play...........................TVradioguru said:. dont worry, slaton is just in caterpiller stage. probably later this year, maybe after christmas, you'll probably be seeing him metamorphasize into what he does. spinning that high pitched screamin robert plant music(no, not todays alison krauss team up stuff, dummy! ZEP), and ACDC etc, on 95.7. this all depends on where KJR ratings, and where KZOK ratings go from here. it seems the same ol' oldies play list, usually has a limited run cycle. one could easily see clear channel make a big deal when this format change commences. if were lucky, we may get a format somewhat like the X. if were unlucky we'll get another KZOK classic rock clone. no, i dont have any insider information here. just too many hours on the road deep thinking this, while the world goes to hell.Wonderfulwino said:Back to Slaton for a minute. I've been giving him a listen since he took to the air and I have to say that he's doing the job but with some tight musical reins on him. Yes, I know the format doesnt allow much satan music in the rotation but most who have been listening to Steve (me, since 1973 when he had graveyard at the Rock) over the years grew accustomed to him rockin' his ass off. This gig seems to be producing "Slaton Lite". I came to that conclusion the other day when I heard him play the Monkees..
