Syndicated vs Local - Calling Holand Cooke

"Definition of a consultant..."

Actually, the whole version is: "Definition of a consultant: Some guy in a suit, who flies in from somewhere else, looks at your watch, flies home, writes a report that tells you what time it is, and encloses an invoice."

Or, as a consultant chum of mine says, "Definition of a consultant: Someone who can describe, in intricate detail, every known sexual position...but doesn't have a girlfriend."

Or, as my chiropractor says, "How many chiropractors does it take to screw-in a light bulb? One, but you have to go back 6 times."

Good day from Noo Yawk,

PS to Joint-Chinese: First of all, I love your screen name. I'm not sure why, or what it means, but it's a cool phrase. And, based on your posts in this and other threads, I'm thinkin' you're a WPRO insider using "Joint-Chinese" to stay-under-the-radar. I think you're pulling our leg about all this wheeling-chairs-around business. When I worked there, I was PROUD to sit in Salty's chair. Actually it was a stool. WPRO was a stand-up at the time.

Harland-

Let's just say I have some very well placed sources. The story about the chair is NOT a joke! Ask anyone in the WPRO building. Dan is just a very wierd person. Plus, of my sources say he may be in trouble with corporate due to some possible pending litigation. That is all I can say at this time.

"That is all I can say at this time."

Well THAT'S cryptic.

Good morning from Omaha airport.
Or has that handsome Tony Orlando sang, "I'm comin' home, I've done my time..."

Where were YOU...TWENTY YEARS ago???

I MIGHT have some tape...but what to play it on???

Recently, when I was being shown-around downstairs at the State House, I asked, "Show me where Governor Garrahy went on TV in his plaid shirt."

Good evening from Block Island

RE: "With the 30th Anniversary coming up..."

Yeah, that's right THIRTY-years-ago-today.

Oops.
Senior moment.
I locked-into the Sgt. Pepper lyric.

HELLUVA episode.
I've got some 35MM slides (SOMEWHERE) that are a hoot...

WHJJ doesn't look like they're paying too many people to pull this one off... John - morning anchor, Helen - morning host, Tim - morning producer, Kevin - morning call screener, Rachel - midday anchor, Bill - afternoon anchor...

Sorry to get in on this so late, but I just found this board and I love it. HJJ is paying next to nothing. Afternoon anchor Bill George is also ND, PD and I think he's doing traffic as well. Screener Kevin was cut at the end of 07.

Midday Anchor Rachel is voicetracking from Syracuse NY. Nice to know you're getting your "local" news from 400 miles away. And she's not a news anchor...she's a jock on about 15 CC stations..3 in the Syracuse Market alone.

Plus, I'm pretty sure any local news on weekends comes from Syracuse as well.

Interesting timing...

If you're asking do-LISTENERS-take-news-people-seriously: They sure WILL, if the news isn't boring.

If you're asking do-STATIONS-take-news-people-seriously: Interesting timing.
Please refer any serious news people to the opening I've posted on the News/Talk board here, and on AllAccess and @ www.HollandCooke.com
