The Beat in Fresno?

What doesn't make sense is that KRZR is CCs #3 station, In the last ratings KRZR was 3.3, KSOF and KALZ was 2.3, and KHGE had a 1.6 and was always on the bottom of all their FM stations, KHGE is the one that should flip, unless what you said Rick, that they are going to move KRZR to 102.7.

KRZR would benefit by moving to a stronger stick at 102.7.

RR
102.7 is stronger than 103.7? How come I can pick up 103.7 from Fresno and not 102.7 from Fresno? And I live in Stockton. In fact, KRZR is stronger than San Francisco's KKSF at least in Stockton.

Both 103.7 and 102.7 are both 50Kw ERP(using the HAAT of 500 ft), but 102.7 is on a hill 10 miles east of Clovis and is 433 ft higher than 103.7 in elevation, and 103.7 is on the Valley Floor between Caruthers and Selma giving 102.7 a better metro city grade. There a chance that part of the Sierras are in the way towards Stockton.

Hey Madmansam, Is CCs station from Modesto KMRQ 96.7 still voice tracking Skippy's show from KRZR?
I'm thinking maybe KRZR could take 96.7 KALZs spot, Their ratings have not been good since they got rid of Laurie West in the morning and are running Ryan Seacreast in the afternoon, KWYE 101.1 is local and dominates the Hot AC format.

As Chris Daniel used to say, "in a hole somewhere around laton". KRZR sounds great everywhere except for one very important place, Visalia.

103.7 has a lot of drop off signal loss areas north of Herndon ave., especially the bluff areas and where all of the new subdivions are and going in, Harlin Ranch, around Clovis North High School, and Riverpark.

Never been there. Are there areas north of Herndon? j/k Is KRZR worse than KFRR in those areas? I remember KFRR having problems at riverpark.

definetely yes, KFRR covers that area good, actually all other stations in Fresno work better north of Herndon, almost everybody else has a mountain stick.

I can see The Blaze 105.1 adding more 90s and beyond and KFRR 104.1 modifying their format to be Active/Alternative Rock.

I make deliveries for a printing company north of Herndon every day, and in areas where 103.7s signal is dead, I get KDJK 103.9 from Merced better than 103.7 especailly on Friant Road, Copper Ave, Ft Washington ave,and Internationalave by Clovis North HS. KDJK(KKHK THE HAWK) only has 74 watts ERP, but has a Mountain stick.

It appears KRZR Might be gone, there is nothing but dead air now, and I noticed the BLAZE 105.1 Playing more 90s and beyond hard rock and Metal.

I punched up 103.7 today, they were playing ' Ice Ice Baby " by Vanilla Ice, this station is totally lame, CHEAP CHANNEL SUCKS. If you (CC) want to do a true classic R&B/Hip-Hop station, do it right.
CC f**ked up keeping 102.7 Huge country, yea KSKS,KJUG , KUBB covered country for Years, I don't know why a big company can make a stupid decision.

105.1 THE BLAZE ROCKS.
While I can't pick up The Blaze in Stockton, I prefer (and listen to) KRXQ-98 Rock. This station remends me of the old AOR format. A perfect blend of Classic Rock (60's, 70's, 80's & 90's) and New Rock (of Today). Sounds alot better than Modesto's KMRQ-Rock 96.7. Plus 98 Rock is more locally programmed and (to my knowlege) no Voice-Tracking!

Comparing The Blaze to KRXQ and KMRQ, The Blaze would be more like KRXQ, playing Classic Rock from The 60s to the 00s and are now mixing in currents and recent currents much like an AOR.

KFRR 104.1 is 90s and beyond.

The Blaze needs to...
1-Team Jen Lipp up with a partner. She is not stand alone material.
2-Move Jen Lipp to another shift and bring in a local show.Doug and Rev come to mind or bring in talent from outside the market.
3-Go with Rob,Dawn and Arnie from KRXQ in Sacramento or another morning show from outside.
4-Leave artists like Pink Floyd,ZZ Top,Styx and etc to the FOX and play more of the late 80's to present day stuff.Would love to hear Taxxi's "I'm leaving" on the airwaves again.
5-Might even drop the Blaze moniker, sounds to small market to me. ROCK 105 sounds better to me.

Just my humble opinion....

My opinion, they should stay with "Classic Rock that really Rocks" the Blaze and mixing in the occasional Current Active Rock and Jen in the morning.

Taxxi "I'm Leaving" is hardly a Classic or Active Rock song, I haven't hear that since 1983 and I really doubt that song was on the radio anywhere after that.
