The CMAs Shaboozey Problem

His family wouldn't. Using his chosen name hasn't hurt him. The song has been #1 for over 30 weeks. His name is not a problem.
Only for those country "purists" who consider exotic names like Shaboozey, Post Malone and Jelly Roll to be the exclusive domain of hip-hop and other rhythmic pop artists. Those conservative country fans refer to plenty of their stars by their first names (Reba, Waylon, Willie), their last names (Cash, Haggard), or even their nicknames (Bocephus, Possum), but the names they recorded and toured under were and still are conventional (Reba McEntire, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., and George Jones).
