2. As for this BIGGEST ROCK EVENT that I am suppose to educate myself on? At that time, you didnt have these massive roadshows that you have to day. So, yes... I could see that being the biggest ROCK event of the time. However, before that.... it would have been WOODSTOCK or Altamont Free Concert etc... However, becuz I do not know of this great rock event. I am less of a rocker? Ok.
Nope. But, now we know you're unable to do any research whatsoever. Instead of taking my advice, you have an answer for everything.
Just so you know....300,000 people attended The US Festival's 2nd day. Which is more than ten Ozzfests. Oh, and that was just one day of this 3-day event that you so insolently dismiss. There are two others where bands I'm sure you think also don't matter like The Ramones, U2, The Grateful Dead, the Police & Fleetwood Mac played.
Right now, you're talkin' loud...and sayin' nothin' (Look it up)

Also, 20 years ago... no HEAVY BANDS were really getting any radio play. Of course that quickly changed once Corporations realized there was MONEY in it.
And where did you learn this little tidbit? You do realize that the very show I've been touting for the past two posts was put on by the founders of Apple right? And it lost them 20 million. Of course you do. You know it all.

3. As for this wierd T-shirt issue.... Ladies and gentlemen... This is a FAD. Just like RAPPERS who wear ESKIMO COATS in the middle of summer. Why would someone one do this? Why would the kids in the MALL be wearing this? Is it becuz they have this great interest in ANTARTIC LIFE? No, it's becuz someone on MTV etc... was wearing it. I really don't think there is a MAD RUSH for the record store or online to get or download all these CLASSIC hits of yesteryear.
Do you even stop to listen to what you're typing? If there were no demand, why would Guitar Hero be so popular? Why would they use YYZ? Smoke On The Water? "Play With Me" by Extreme?
You need schoolin' (look it up)

What about the FAD of VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES... with the same thinking regarding T-shirts... there should be MASS CHAOS on the streets. However, study after study has shown that TEEN VIOLENCE has dropped in the last 10 years. This is part of the reason why CALIFORNIA could not pass the VIOLENT VIDEO GAME legislation. Thats not an opinion... thats a fact.
What does this have to do with your inability to accept that you don't know as much as you believe you do about the format you've professed to "have been successful in for some time now?" This is the typical tactic of those who feel cornered in a debate they might be overmatched in. They'd rather get defensive, and divert focus to something else than accept the situation they got themself in.

ALso, let me make something clear... I REALLY enjoy ALL sorts of music. I have a VAST collection of music. Obviously TRIUMPH isn't a part of it. However, it goes way back. However, I have been listening to all sorts of stuff for a long time. I didn't start the other day becuz I bought the T-shirt and just had to have the music.
But, you do show significant, repeated ignorance, and mild disdain for that which you know so little about. And that's a sign of youth. You have a lot to learn. We all do. But, in you it seems very pronounced.

4. Also, as far as the point that was made regarding TRIUMPH and there place on a bill... Come on. Big Deal. They were popular for the day. Ok. However, 3 bands that out lasted them and have gone on to be 1000 times more successful played before them. That being OZZY, MOTLEY and JUDAS and that's not an opinion... that would be a fact.
You completely miss the point. We're talking about programming a theoretical "Hard Rock" station for Dallas. It can be assumed that it would target males, and probably those in the money demos (25-54...cuz I know you won't look it up). You began with an assertion that the band Triumph, who have sold millions of records, and probably safe to assume most before you were born, wouldn't be relevant within the context of that station.
You may want to check your facts though. Triumph has had several top 20 hit records. More than Priest. And radio's about "playin' the hits" isn't it?

Look, it was already said once... these are our opinions. I think one way and obviously... others think another way. Now, I did have fun talking about TRIUMPH. I always do. Honestly though.... I have just been having fun. Ya know. Poking the bear.
Careful what bears you poke...some of them might be sitting behind PD chairs with job openings in Dallas someday.
Just some good, free advice. Enjoy your holiday!
