*** Because they sounded bush-league 4 months ago and they don't sound much better 2 weeks ago. "Better and larger" playlist is not fact, just a matter of opinion. Most disagree with you on this subject.

*** I truly understand the daunting task of putting a new station on air and am most always among the first to say "give 'em a chance". I also get that we get one chance to make a good first impression. KOOL sounds like a faint attempt to replace 96.9- Cox has their own issues, for sure, but the station usually sounded pretty solid (if unspectacular). Kool 100.7 sounds very rough and disjointed and not up to Top 50 market standards.

Some of the other cats are right about you. Just because our takes on Renda's stations (only such a hot topic because they're the newest stations) are different than yours doesn't mean we're wrong. DIFFERENT IS OK- it's what makes for productive back and forth and the springboard for ideas. The fact that some of us really do know what we're talking about seems to be a real trouble spot for you. No disrespect intended, but please get over it.

point made, but

Please remember that strong local leadership can always "handle" ownership. If the local market manager was truly strong, corporate wouldn't HAVE TO stick their nose in it.

And, can we PLEASE stop automatically tying "consultants" to corporate micro- managing? If Renda corporate management is indeed calling all the shots, they wouldn't need a "consultant" to interfere, as well.

Re: please check this out

1.Ok you were WRONG about the rates the station is getting.
2. Kool is not trying to be like the old kool. That station was losing listeners every book.
3. Yes their playlist is 500 songs about 200 more Eagle. i give Cox credit for marketing the station extensively but have you real listened to the air staff and the muisc. you might as well call it the Elton John/Billy Joel station.

Rome was not built overnight and radio stations are not either. Only time will tell if Renda can pull it off. I know you have no inside sources at Renda in Jax.

I agree with some of your thoughts on the station when it came on the air but I seem to hear a big improvement in the musicand sound of the station. I live here so I listen just a little more than you do.

ugh

You're still trying to manipulate nearly everything I say (either that or you just can't read or don't want to really understand what's being said).

Have a nice life and good luck with your Renda friends.

Tony Renda senior and his consultants.

I dunno about this one Oldiescat. Strong management can only
handle logical owners who have a clue about the business. The
radio world today is so different from the 80's and 90's...
But sounds like ole Tony is a blast from the past...

Ah, you'd love the stories. Brings tears to my eyes, still.
Certainly you've been overridden by "corporate" sometime in
your career, haven't you?

My best one is I lead a terrific team that had a 12 month
average share of 21, peaking at 35 AM drive, which "scared"
the owners that numbers like this might make our competition
uncomfortable (or even worse - MAD) so we had to ease up and
"share the love." Ha.

True, most of today's companies ain't that stewpid....

yecch

WOW- that is indeed scary. I've heard "the meek interit the Earth" before, but that's a really psycho story.

My point RE: Renda is that while they operate in Pittsburgh, OKC and other markets, it's surprising they've come out so clunky over the past several months in Jacksonville. I guess I'm wrong in assuming they'd know better (?).

Re: point made, but

What are you crazy? you can’t handle Tony Renda! LOL The man is really crazed most of the time! He’s a mad man yelling and screaming insults and throwing out threats to anyone who crosses his path. Just ask anybody else in the industry the man has a bad reputation.

Renda is psycho and a nutcase. It’s just not worth any amount of money dealing with his bull.

Did not know that about him- thanks for the insight.
