The Hit Parade Era - Fantasy Programming

This has been a very interesting (and eye-opening ) topic, to say the least!

My parents gave me their record collection a few years back, because they have nothing to play them on, and had not listened to them in many years anyway! ::) With that in mind, I have a few 45s here that I would like to transfer to a good home. Most of these are in good condition. None of this is to say that I don't have an appreciation for their generation's music, it's just that I cannot relate to some of these particular 45s that they decided to buy, back in the day. I have looked on Ebay, but I just do not see that there is enough of a demand for these particular types of records, and artists. So with that in mind, I will let any of these 45s go for a dollar each, plus appropriate shipping and handling. Here are some of the artists whose records I have:

Gene Pitney
The Crests (actually, that one's mine! ;D)
Frank Sinatra
Patti Page
Kingsmen (also mine)
Paul Revere/Raiders (another of mine)
Pat Boone (several by him!)
Tab Hunter (several by him, as well!)
The Four Lads
The Platters
Jane Morgan
String-a-longs (a couple by them)
Eddie Fontaine (?)
Floyd Cramer
Tommy Dorsey
Don Gibson
Hugo Winterhalter
Jaye P. Morgan (a little scratchy!)
a moog synthesizer version of "Lady Jane" by the Stones! (probably my uncle's)
Jive Five
Glen Campbell (probably also my uncle's record)
Perry Como
Rosemary Clooney
Teresa Brewer
Andy Williams
Craig Douglas (?)
Shirley & Lee

Also have a few albums, including Lawrence Welk, The Anita Kerr Quartet, Tommy Dorsey & Orchestra with Frank Sinatra, and others.

With the 45s, I mostly have only one record by each artist. And my parents had a tendency to pick songs that were not necessarily the big hits. Many of these I cannot even find listed in the Billboard book, and of the ones that made the top 40, many of those were low-charters. If you are interested in any of these artists, message me and I will let you know what I have, title(s), record label, serial number, condition of record, etc. On some of these, I don't even know which was the A side! So if you are looking for a hard-to-find rarity by one of these artists, I may be able to help you!

Some excellent stuff.

Floyd Cramer: I can still remember riding around Miami with my daddy in his '55 T-Bird, as well as his '57 T-Bird listening to "Last Date", as we headed to the drive-in for a burger and a shake. And by the way it was indeed fun fun fun, but daddy never took the T-Bird away.

And "Alley Cat", by Bent Fabric

Love the Jive Five--especially "I'm A Happy Man"

Jackie Wilson never recorded a bad record.

In the words of Tommy Roe........"Hooray For Hazel" ...Hit Parade Radio Is Back can't wait to hear It. Someone does cares about 30% of the population in the US. I am so excited the following Lyrics come to mind.

Never knew that my heart could go zing thata way,
Ting-a-ling thata way,
Make me sing thata way!
Said goodbye to my troubles, they went thata way,
Ever since you came into my life!

Oh! hot diggity, dog ziggity boom, what'cha do to me,
It's so new to me, what'cha do to me,
Hot diggity, dog ziggity boom, what'cha do to me,
When you're holdin' me tight

Well, dang, one good zing deserves another:

Dear, when you smiled at me
I heard a melody
It haunted me from the start
Something inside of me
Started a symphony
Zing! Went the strings of my heart

Twas like a breath of spring
I heard a robin sing
About a nest set apart
All nature seemed to be
In perfect harmony
Zing! Went the strings of my heart

Your eyes made skies seem blue again
What else could I do again
But keep repeating through and through
I love you, love you!

I still recall the thrill
I guess I always will
I hope twill never depart
Dear, with your lips to mine
A rhapsody divine
Zing! Went the strings of my heart :-*

I also have some Kay Starr, Four Preps, and Luther Ingram (old Memphis R&B), but I'm going to hang onto those. Interesting that even with my mention of all the groups above, I'm only seeing titles mentioned that I don't have, and not seeing any titles mentioned that I actually do have!

Take it from one who sold records: Ain't that just about always the way!
