The Inventor Didn't Plan On This...

"Can't they integrate a ferrite bar into a cell phone case and add AM? Just asking." Just a quick search using the phrase "cellphone am radio” got several results.

Sony Ericcson makes one: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/r306?cc=sg&lc=en

It's a GSM phone, so if you have a carrier that works with GSM phones, you're in luck. It's unlocked for about $80. http://www.mobilecityonline.com/

Tragic Motorola does not make a phone with AM radio... after all, they invented '2-way radios' and made some of the best portables and car stereos 'back in the day'

National security and safety would be the perfect pretext to getting rid of IBOC, especially on AM, since IBOC jams adjacents and cuts down on useful range. An Executive Order could get rid of this jamming machine. Care to start a petition for Obama? ;D

I'm all for petetioning! IN fact, I'd like to petetion to overturn the switch to digital tv too! Some people can't afford cable tv, or choose not to pay the high rates. Those damn converter boxes for receiving television over the air make it where you don't get a picture in many cases. So let's petition to either overturn the change to digital tv, or get mandatory free limited cable tv. Seems fair to me if they wanna force this [EDIT] on us!

Well, there you go.

Why former brew pusher, NAB prez David Rehr, said that AM could not be on cell phones because of antenna issues is a mystery. Obviously, it can be done and is being done.
