I was out to lunch the other day with a friend and found this out but didn't think anything of it. They said the tower owner both of those stations share is forcing them to reduce power output for days at a time right now due to some kind of work going on up there. Could that be affecting the PPM numbers?

Yes.

so....have they given up, or are they just simulcasting WZUM?? ???

The station is still testing. Again, I'll have to defer to Bob as to when the actual launch will take place, but I think it
will be soon.

I look Forward to WKVE Launch, Check my 103.1 Preset Daily.

Re: The New 103-KVE

I was told by Bob Stevens himself that it will be launching in about a week from now. He's been busy adjusting processing, adding music and working on the format. I got the impression that this is his pride and joy so he don't want to launch till it's just right.

Re: The New 103-KVE

I like the current "ALL DEAD AIR, ALL THE TIME'' format he is running since,---HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN NOW???

Ditto here.

I heard testing again Sunday night. "Caleb" playing the tunes and sounding great. :)

Re: The New 103-KVE

this is starting to strike me as "BOB FM"....you know ..liners like " Bob just wants to make sure it"s perfect"..Bob just bought his own station" " Bob will play anything" ...how aout "Bob will get this station going as soon as ......." I mean, just how long does it take now that he has going thorugh all that stuff with the FCC such? I just hope "Bob" hires live DJs and not some "sat service"

Re: The New 103-KVE

in the next book will be very interesting to compare WKVE with WAOB....

Re: The New 103-KVE

I give a ''BIG A M E N !!!'' to WAOB in this one. Hey, at least it is on the air.

WAMO went off in September 2009 & WAOB was up in, what was it, 4 months.

103.1 WKVE has been on the boards since, as I can recall, 2007.

I hope when 103.1 does come on air, that the phone lines all work, not like what I hear is the problems at AM-620.

I heard Pastor Farrell Abraham on Sunday (4/10/10) mention about all the on-going phone problems.

Stevens has problems at 105.1/1210 WANB with phone lines & seems like Pastor Don can't have his CD's played in either CD players sometimes.

I guess Bob must be pouring all the $$$$ into 103.1 WKVE and letting 105.1/1210 go down hill.

If he wanted to start his "Pride & Joy", why didn't he go out and start from scratch, instead of STEALING Greene County it's station.

Re: The New 103-KVE

WAY TO GO BOB STEVENS!!!

A MAJOR FIRE IN WAYNESBURG THIS MORNING (22 APR 2010) & NO LOCAL COVERAGE!!!

He did away with a LOCAL NEW STAFF years ago, so when all you have now is a ''RIP & READ OF THE INTERNET" morning air talent, you get ''OUTDATED INFORMATION''!

It also would be nice if people of Waynesburg could get the station. How many actually listen to AM RADIO anymore? The 105.1 signal DOES NOT EVEN COVER HE ENTIRE COUNTY!

That's not Stevens' Problem! He is ''TOO BUSY PLAYING WITH HIS 103.1 JOKE!!!"

Re: The New 103-KVE

still testing? I don't think it took the government this long to develop and test the atomic bomb during WWII. I am starting to wonder if Stevens is trying to put an FM station on the air in a major market on a "shoe string" . If that is the case...WDVE will crush "KVE" like a grape. Pittsburgh may no longer be in the top 10 market, but it's still the "big leagues". What's that old saying about "runnin withe the big dogs"?

Re: The New 103-KVE

Please tell me that you didn't think think this station is going to somehow "compete" with DVE.

No disprespect intended to the people involved, but this is the equivalent of adding another WJPA or 107.1 to the market.

As WVAQ has proved, thanks to Arbitron's stupidity Fayette County can produce ratings that do not mirror reality (including a county in the Pittburgh metro where most of the Pittsburgh FMs don't come in all that well). But thois station will not likely be a factor in the market on any large scale. It doesn't need to be, but it should be Westmoreland-Fayette intensive.

Re: The New 103-KVE

shall we chalk-up another one to the list of Great Urban Legends of Pittsburgh Radio?

- the alligator that lived in the WJPA transmitter shack for 19 years?

- the STA issued for KDKA to broadcast at 500,000 watts which was rescinded after two
days when Mayor David Lawrence complained to his contacts in Washington that he could
not get to sleep as he kept picking them up on his fillings?

- "Uncle Ed" Shaughnessy was really a secret-agent for the OSS, reading out secret coded messages
that were being monitored each night by deep-cover agents and Allied troops in Europe?

- the 96KIX Call Girl was, in real life, an actual call girl?

- Ed and Wendy King were merely a ventriloquist act performed by Rege Cordic and never really existed?

- Captain Showbiz programmed all the music at TAE by lining the walls of his basement with 45 jackets and
then throwing darts at them?

- There is this dynamite, boffo Classic Rock station called WKVE that is going to take to the air from the tops
of the Laurel Mountains and spew out mind-blowing, incredible, fantastic commercial-free music that will cover
an area from Clarksburg to Meadville and out into the eastern fringes of Canton, Ohio?
