How about the new bumper stickers and bilboards, will they just say KCBS All News 106.9 FM /740 AM like there logo on there web site.Heres a what if senario, say CBS decides to simicast KNX on KCBS-FM,which could happen, will they call it KNX news radio or KCBS.
If that scenario did occur, that IS a good question you pose, especially in TV cycles since
CBS' L.A. TV station changed call letters from KNXT to KCBS-TV sometime in the 1980s!
Theoretically, I believe they can - in this case - re-use KNX-FM, which is what 93.1 signed
on as in the late-1940s, no? Then they can move the KCBS-FM callsign back to the Bay
Area...
If they were smart, they'd keep the historic, successful, three-letter KNX callsign, but...
CBS =
Can't
Broadcast
Smart

A KNX simulcast on KCBS-FM Los Angeles is not a likely scenario. KCBS-FM (Jack-FM) gets much higher ratings than KFRC did, and KNX gets much
lower ratings than KCBS-AM. It wouldn't make much sense to kill a format with decent ratings to simulcast a much lower rated station. This would only make sense if CBS decided to flip formats at KFWB, making KNX the only news station in LA. That has been rumored, but I don't think it's likely. What would they do with KFWB - make it yet another talk station?
But if they did simulcast KNX for some strange reason, it would just be like here -
"KNX News Radio 1070 AM and 93.1 FM"..except for the top of the hour legal ID.
It's cute to put down CBS radio, and they do seem to be clueless in the Bay Area. But overall, their LA stations do pretty well,
