The Party Has Moved!

And why did they move to 93.3?

Because they apparantley want to distant itself from KRBE [it's too close to 104.1 & 105.3] Univision could move KPTI to serve the South & West side of town-If they could. That's where the Millionaires now live.

Did anyone get to listen to 93.3 at noon???? What happened and what did they say???? i missed it bc im at work and im on the westside of Houston. My radio at work does not pick up 93.3 here on the westside at i10 and beltway 8

I recorded it, it was pretty eventless. I'll post it soon

Congratulations to 104 - KRBE. You just scored about another .5 to a 1 share with Party's move. Not a brilliant move to put a weaker signal over most of Houston's hot zip codes. On the other hand, I hope you enjoy those Beaumont - Port Arthur numbers.

Don't you mean The Box?

Yeah so that means that i cant listen to Party 93.3 bc i live in west Houston. 93.3 covers Beaumont, Port Arthur and only parts of houston to the north and south and east but unfortunately not the northwest ,west and southwest Houston

93.3 is a rimshot..licensed to Port Arthur, not Beaumont...Same tower (CC Devers) as 100.7 and 99.9 (used to also have 98.5 Port Arthur and 107.9 Beaumont on it)..

would somebody please publish a dummy's guide to finding Univision stations? It's become quite puzzling. :-[ :-[
I'll do it.........but I'm just to lazy.

If it would help, here's only the Houston market.
KLTN 102.9 (CP to change city of Licsence from Houston to Missouri City)
KLAT 1010 AM
KAMA-FM 104.9 (currently on a Construction permit to move across Downtown to broadcast @ 8,800 watts and change COL to Deer Park, almost no change to height of tower)
KPTI 105.3 (out there in the sand dunes of Crystal Beach, heard somewhere they wanted to move to Winnie)
KPTY 93.3 (with a CP to build a booster by Aldine Mail Road and 59)
KRTX 980 AM
KOVE 106.5 (CP to move to a much taller tower with a whopping 100 KW)
relicensing 102.9 to MO City wont help...it cannot move from where it is at!
104.9 is on one of the tall downtown bldgs...eventual plans to make it a C1 at Mo City.
105.3 aint moving any time soon...still locked in paperwork battle over COL to Winnie after 100.7 to change to Lumberton but that depends on the 105.3 app in Vinton, LA.....
93.3 booster will suck....doesnt work in flat terrain and it cannot expand the 1mV contour of the main station...dont even know WHY they bother
106.5 already runs 100KW....CP is to go from 1200ft to 2000ft...nothing else.

I live on the south west side close to the loop signal is kinda weak, I made a trip to 610 & mlk signal weak there with statick here and there when I made the trip. Had my radio on about 30 min ago there were taking callers all the callers were on the east side like deer park glena park so this mean if your 610 west loop or further out west your out of luck. 1049 has 80% better signal in houston I guess they switched to hit all the mexican on the east side.

I've actually heard people say they listen to 104... meaning KRBE. So that makes sense.

Yep, It's true. 104 KRBE has finally ran Party out of their sight. Party's move to 93.3 is good for the East Side, Bad for the West. Now-all that is cleared, Maybe Party could add some Reggaeton/Hispanic Urban to the Hip-Hop/R&B Mix (Since it's owned by Univision) for the Sharpstown based station.

I THOUGHT REGATON/SPANISH URBAN DIDNT WORK HERE IN HOUSTON THATS WHY MEGA CHANGED??

This is almost certainly just being done so they can move 104.9 to Deer Park without stripping MO City of its sole local service. I agree with you that it's not going to make any difference whatsoever. Changing the COL to MO City isn't going to enable 102.9 to do much of anything it couldn't do licensed to Houston.

Actually, KLOL's biggest numbers were from before the change, and they have not fully recovered the December-January PPM levels yet.

Well, Univision owns The Ennis Tower-which is located east of DT Houston (Where KLTN is Broadcasting). Why don't they have all of its FM stations moved down to this tower-which happens to be the MOST powerful tower in Houston Radio? I think KPTY, KOVE, and KAMA will benefit.

FMs can not just move around, geographically. The tower location is determined by the spacing between stations elsewhere on the same dial position and adjacent dial positions. None of the Univision stations could technically or legally move to the KLTN tower.

In reality, there is no such thing as the "most powerful tower". I'm no engineer, but the bigger the wattage and the higher the height, the more coverage you have. If you are talking about having the most potential, then I'll have to argue about that. The Senior Road Tower has more potential than the KLTN tower.

good engineering. true senior road tower do have more potential than kltn. they have 100,000 watter like we do on 1029 and 1065 but they sit on 1000 unlike senior road which sit on 2000 ft tower and it has more coverage. but kltn and senior rd cover houston and well beyond its surrounding areas.

sorry about the KAMA on Amor HD. its not suppose to KAMA till next week, should be KPTY. i updated the hd tx exporter id and should of waited till next week.

if you listen at midnite on 933, you will hear a sudden drop of whatever song was playing then it came back with another song. it was kinda screwy cuz the boardop kept hitting start on the AV and i kept fading it. i kinda wanted to end the last song, in both 933 and 1049 and then silence, then switch audio path/format, then start the AV. it went well for Amor but the Temporary que buena on party studio wasnt smooth. que buena studio went amor and the audio path switch over to 1049, at the same time, party studio went que buena music and its audio path switch to 933. so even thou we still had que buena on 933, we had switch 1049 and 933 and their studios but party studio had temporary que buena music till noon. so at noon, nothing was change, the log just continued with party music, half day log of que buena and half day log of party, :p

Woah texmex, chill man. He means when KLOL was rock, their numbers were bigger then they are now. The switch to Hurban/Reggaton/whatever.... was not a good move. Mega has yet to make the kind of money Rock 101 was.

No, I am not telling you that. Arbitron is.

The change is likely because they were having issues selling Mega as a general market English station, and they needed the change to make it salable.
