They programmed Party like a Long Island station, and despite some changes, seemed reluctant to ever adapt to the big city.
The whole FCC / "signal thing" is total BS. If Mega Media were still in business, would they have pulled the same lame stunt? I don't think so, and I think the real reason JVC pulled Party 105's simulcast was because they KNEW it was a failure and wanted to be spared the embarrassment in the upcoming PPMs!!
It totally sucks that Serg and Frankie Vasquez got caught up in that mess. I can now see why Glenn Friscia seemed to be "in the shadows" when it came to the Party lineup. With no more New York simulcast, what will become of the former Pulse DJs who "signed on the dotted line"? Will they stay or will they go? I guess Vic doesn't have to front anymore and make "uncomfortable trips" to NYC/NJ clubs. He can just keep his crap in the Hamptons where it belongs!
I'm not optimistic about NYC ever getting another dance station. I think that ship has finally sailed. The media conglomerates aren't interested in sinking money into the format, and because of that, the only way we can hear our music is through the Internet. The death of Party FM means that stations like Energy 98 and Electric FM (among others) have become the only game in town!
EVERYONE on Party 105 should be ashamed of themselves!!

And now NYC has no place for dance at all, unless KTU or someone else steps up to the plate. That said, the 87.7 signal was a joke, I could never get a clear signal anywhere in Nassau County, whereas 101.5 came in much stronger. Even in the 5 boroughs I had trouble with the signal, especially AFTER Party took over the frequency. The sad truth is 87.7(5) is really a weak, LPTV audio channel, and was probably not worth the money for JVC to keep up. They were a Long Island station plain and simple. Oddly enough, the music mix is much better AFTER the 87.7 was dropped.

87.7 was ALWAYS temporary, there was no way it would be permanent. Island broadcasting applied days after the switch to Party to re-locate their Digital transmission, and as soon as this happened, 87.7 would have been required to leave the air.
Yes, they said "And now, Stay tuned for another hour of more static power".pinewood1972 said:Does anyone have a recording of their last few minutes on 87.7? Did they give a proper send off?
