The River Runs Dry....

Now there is something on the Rivers website "Looking for Rush Radio Click here" and it redirects to 1061fmtalk.com. I think this is the real deal RDU returns tomorrow at 9am. On 100.7

They are running promos saying "At 9am get ready for a history lesson, it's back, it starts, etc" Basically it looks like we are getting RDU back after 7 Years.

The station looks to be stunting with "Back in Black" by ACDC on a loop. Last three songs before the stunt, from first to last: "Brain Damage" by Pink Floyd, "Breakup Song" by Greg Kihn, and "Walking on the Moon" by Police.

We are getting RDU back!!!!!!!!!!!

Which version? The good one, the OK one, or the bad one?

If it's the good one, they should have kept Kitty for mid-days and hire Blade for afternoons.

I don't think we'll get the good version.

YES SIR!!! With The original voice of 96rock. Does the legacy of RDU continue at 22 years or does it have to start over. They did say the best f--king Rockstation on the planet the legendary WRDU. So I guess it kinda continues at 22 years.

Teke Tabor is not listed on the website anymore either.

So we have two voicetracked jocks covering the new RDU - Brian Taylor and Mike Perry.... and everyone with a relation to the old RDU has been released. Sure, that makes sense.

I didn't want to be pessimistic but it looks like the only good thing here is that CC is committed to the talk format beyond just it's #1 star.

So what happened? A call letter swap? Why not just put the WTKK call letters immediately on the TALK station? Why wait till the Monday after Easter to put the WRDU call letters on the 100.7 Classic Rock station?

It does seem to be a harder-edged Classic Rock. I'm looking at the recent playlist: Ozzy Osbourne, George Thorogood, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rush, Bad Company Stevie Ray Vaughn. No Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac or Elton John-type Classic Hits.. Bet you in a 24 hour period, you won't hear more than one song by a female artist. Or maybe none.

Isn't "Classic Rock That Really Rocks" more blue-collar, factory-worker, low-income Classic Rock, not for The Research Triangle? I even heard a prerecorded liner proclaiming "we have a shotgun, we're men and now we have WRDU." And it was followed by Golden Earring "Twilight Zone."

With the heavy male imaging, a reference to guns, and the hard-edged Classic Rock, they really are going after the blue-collar male crowd. No more environmentally-friendly "The River."

Is it me or is this exact same music mix as last week? It sure sounds like it. (yawn)

The new RDU - same as the old (10 yrs ago) RDU. There is an audience for this music and with improved imaging they should do OK. The River's image was blurred.

The Fox in Charlotte does very well with this format. They do need a decent morning show. A talented guy who knows local sports and has the right "attitude" would probably work well.

While I appreciate the John Boy and Billy show, it's probably strike three on those guys (not their fault). They've been on Classic Rock, Oldies, and Country in the market!

??? ??? ??? ??? So....let's see. WRDU is back...yeah, but NOT where it belongs. To those that hoped it would return to 106.1-HAHAHA! What genius at CC didn't figure out the obvious; put it back where it belonged and put the "talk" on 100.7. But then, that's too simple for the simple to comprehend. And how many acne-faced, young males are gonna like 20-30 yr. old rock cuts. Sorry; most I know want the Hip and the Hop. Oh....and if the OLD 'RDU is back, how about putting the old Kitty back on....and maybe Brian McFadden? What is Tom Guild doing nowadays? Where's Daniel, Gongaware....oh and yes.....THE BLADE? Put people on the air who were there....who totally understand the old 'RDU, not someone in their 20's or 30s who wasn't born or in diapers. It's like listening to jocks on 102.9 talking about the Beatles....or reading it off the internet, but weren't there to "EXPERIENCE" Beatle-Mania. But I don't want to seem too negative. After the novelty of the "old-new" WRDU wears off.....we'll see what the balloon-heads at CC come up with next to preserve a dying medium. But that's just my opinion.....and wtf do I know!
