LOL look a decade at KISW mostly #1 (25-54), seven years at KXRX mostly #1 about the same at KZOK always top 3 then The Buzz!
That is one hell of a run, and the reason R&M were G O O D personality radio period. They cut new roads and were always engaging and fun. I am proud to have been next to them at most of their great career. Seattle radio was better for having Robin and Maynard a simple fact. Go back and check their ratings, anyone here would love to have those numbers right kiddies?
Be safe,

Thanks Mr. Crow. I couldn't have found a sharper pin to pop these "experts" bubble with on Robin & Maynard.
It's a clash of two mindsets: The ones who know Seattle radio and what made this market one of the most unique in the nation. And those who wouldn't know what a unique market was if they tried. All they want is more $$$. Being a suckup may help their personal careers in the short term, but in the long run, they're cannibalizing their own future.
I'll try to illustrate this as clearly as I can.
Today, it's HUGE, pie in the sky, You're trippin', HA-HAW!, profit margins. The corporate cronies had it their way for the last ten years. And look how fabulous local radio is now! The way these "experts" talk about it, you'd think the iPod, Internet/Satellite radio, Music Choice, et al had never been invented. it's a big game...a STRATEGY session...woooo.....it's gotta be something BIG.....then the rumors start churning.....boy......this is better than sex!.....Then finally, the big day arrives.....and POOF!

And people who listen to the radio.....they are SOOOO dumb! They'll just fall right into it. And then they will wonder why, when they're visiting their Aunt Sadie that that station in Clinton, Wisconsin imitates that station in Seattle......(ETC) Shouldn't there be a national LAW against that?
(Personally, I think there SHOULD be.) But whatever happened to CALL LETTERS? The very soul and identity of some of the most SUCCESSFUL (still) STATIONS?
We know KISW. We know KZOK. And KMPS. And even KJR-FM.....go figure......Lord knows we remember KXRX, KYYX, KSEA, et al..........
And the broadcasting behemoths wonder why it's very, actually VERY hard to find a dedicated terrestrial commercial radio listener anymore?
THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME!! Just throw in some canned "carefully researched" - yeah, RIGHT - format and just sit back and expect the $$$ to come flowing in like a flooding River.....@ 106.7.....
A few years ago, you had a big debate over the iPod and how that is turning away radio listeners. But funny thing is, even with the BETTER sounding cassette tape Walkman in the '80s, no station ever complained. Because they had REAL LIVE LOCAL PERSONALITIES. People who KNEW Seattle, what made Seattle work. Because they were FROM Seattle (or anywhere in the Puget Sound area. Or spent a great deal of time here.)
The trouble here is too many grandiose expectations from conglomerates and markets unwilling (or have found other alternatives) to meet them.
Now, for those who ever need to ponder why whenever Bongwater says "Radio sucks". THERE'S your answer.............
