"THE SPORTS HUB" IS BORN

and I haven't listened to the Whiner Line for awhile but isn't there one guy who does multiple voices and always gets on? I know one of his characters is "Lenny" (yahhhhhhhhhh)

The one who always gets on is the "man on the way up" and it's basically the same whine every time...........a variation of his "Utility Lou" song. This guy seems to be such a psycho that Brett and Andy must be afraid of him. His routine was funny the first time but we've all heard it 1000 times.

On the subject of a**hole callers, I heard Danny from Quincy attacking a caller this morning for criticizing something Danny said. Danny said the the caller didn't use his name but he knows he was taking shots at him(Danny). I remember the guy's call and nothing was mentioned about Danny the Screamer. This screwball actually thinks he's an on air personality and that people are keeping track of his theories.

WEEI has made them on-air personalities--that's the problem. And it didn't stop one of them from taking it to heart--remember Dakota from Braintree's short-lived show on WWZN? No? Believe me, you're quite fortunate.

Are Felger and Mazz still blowing up WEEI "celebrity callers"? I haven't listened yet. I'm waiting for Smerlas or LJ to show up on the Big Show. I really need a reason to listen to Felger. I've always like Mazz, but I can't stand Felger.

Butch From The Cape...

Greatest caller of all time.

Nobody will ever compare.

Felger isn't as annoying hosting his own show. Him and Mazz work well together. Butch from the Cape was a dope. He was a one trick pony with an annoying voice. Generosa from Peabody was the greatest caller of all time.

I agree, Butch from the Cape was nothing without his script. Kind of like Obama without his teleprompter. A story came out after Butch's death and it turned out he was an ex-con, a notoriuos welcher, and a snitch while he was in jail. I can't remember who wrote the piece, but I bet it's on line somewhere.

None of which diminishes his content when he called.

Butch was everything you wanted: Entertaining, inciting, and memorable.

He made the hosts' jobs easier.

Talk radio isn't always about the host. That's the primary mistake being made every day.

hilarious parody song on wbz-fm describing how felger and underwood fell in love! also Mazz was bemoaning his fate has felger's co-host after 3 full days.

Butch from the Cape would trot his shtick on that loser Jim Rome caller's show and then re-run in on D&C. The guy was a major league prick who ratted out the bookies he lost money to.

Butch probably did have a script, or maybe just a piece of scrap paper with reminders on it. JT The Brick calls him the greatest caller in the history of sports talk radio (John "JT" Tournour started out as a caller himself, to Jim Rome;
he later worked on the syndie Pete Rose show WRKO ran) and urges listeners to be prepared a la Butch when it's
time to call. Butch of course would make fun of the Pats and Sox (did not live to see either win it all IIRC; knowing him,
had he been still alive in '04 and asked to comment on the Sox victory, he'd probably immediately bring up
how many more titles the Yankees have won). Butch, who also called Howie once in awhile, had nicknames for
people like "Little Ricky" (Pitino) and "No-Arm" (Garciaparra)

Regular callers with a shtick--sounds like the EEI playbook.

There's no mistaking where John from Medford is from. BZ-FM should relent and let him on. The Fall River Guy and Frank should stay away.

I think a lot of 98.5's future depends on keeping the a**hole callers on WEEI and off their station. The best show on 'EEI is the Baseball Show especially since Felger left. They keep the calls brief which dissuades the callers who like to hear themselves talk. Danny from Quincy, Steve from Fall River, Frank, Tony from Bridgewater and others know that they're only going to get a few seconds so they can't make their speech.

'EEI has become identified with their moron callers which in turn opens them to ridicule. I agree that John from Medford is harmless, but Steve fronm Fall River may be their worst current caller. It's either "the post Manny era" or the Pats never should have let Ty Law go. I remember him calling and complaining about the Patriots at a point when they were 18-0. The guy's act is tedious. I don't know why they take his calls.

john from medford calls into the sports hub i heard him today unless theres another john from medford he sounded to me like jim the wrestling goon

It seems like "John from Meffa" has been on 98.5 just about every day since their launch! As for sounding like Jim, I have no idea what you're talking about...

My favorite WBZ-FM moment is hearing a recent caller start out his call with "first time, long time." How long could he have been listening given that the station is only a couple of weeks old?

The one time I've heard him, Felger cut him off telling him to go home. John is never obnoxious in the Yankee Talk sense.
sounded to me like jim the wrestling goon
Nothing, like JTWG: He sounds like himself.
