The Surf 94.9

Reason I bring 94.9 up was becasue I saw someone wearing a 94.9 The Surf baseball cap. Good to hear it'll be back on. Hopefully people will know its back after being off the air close to 4 months.

94.9, The Surf (wvco) is now on-the-air. We will have to run at reduced power for a day or two while some additional parts arrive for the transmitter. It had been off the air and without any power since the 19th of January. In any event, we are elated to at least get it back on the air and just in time for the final two big days of the Spring SOS in North Myrtle Beach!

@Bill...Called my mother last night to tell her that the Surf was back on the air and she went crazy! You have, at the very least, made one person extremely happy. Keep up the good work.

Congrats, Bob...I'm gonna try to make it down in the next couple of weeks...I'd LOVE to get the nickel tour.

You are too gracious, Bill. You deftly handled that without calling attention to the fact that I originally posted to "Bob" instead of "Bill". Technology, particularly "auto correct", is highly overrated. lol.

(oh, btw, nice grab getting Deac.)

That mistake seemed natural to me since my two brothers are named Bob and Bill, (no joke).

lol. I guess sometimes, truth really IS stranger than fiction. I went to high school with someone named "Anita Dix" and had classes in college with a guy named "Richard Head" and another guy named "George Washington Socrates Hercules Carver Jones, Jr." (and THAT, sir, also is no joke. lol)

Sorry to get off topic, but I know a lady named Paula Pffafenbichler. 94.9 the Surf deserves to be back. They have a huge following in the area, beach music especially. Their success spawned 1340 AM switching to beach music in Charleston, and the old 95.9 FM having several beach music shows on weekends.

Trapped in the mountains. I was born in the smoky mountains and have traveled and lived in many places and the one thing I am sure of is it is one of the best places I have ever lived.

I can relate to the beach sound after living in south Florida for 10 years. It is funny that we only live a little over 60 miles from the coast but can't hear any beach type music much in this area much. I noticed that the other night when we had channel 4 WCIV news on out of Charleston and they gave the high and low tides along with the boat and beach reports (something I hadn't heard in a long time). Most of the time we listen to Columbia since our weather comes from that direction and their report covers our area. I miss the beach music sound guess I will check Surf 94.9 on line.

I heard that he's going to leave it like it is. Which is hopefully a good station for the North Myrtle Beach and Little River communities, with lots of news and community involvement, and one that attracts a great audience with its oldies and classic hit songs on the streaming audio.

The Surf 94.9 is sounding better than EVER before!

The Surf does sound good, Bill I don't think we have ever met but out of everthing I have seen you are truly a good radio man, you have the real feel for radio and know how to use it.
