The Track. Now Annie.

Not sure about the format, but just a few minutes ago, Willie B mentioned something about the "new fall lineup" with familiar voices beginning on Tuesday..they are also doing an A-Z countdown of sorts.

Heard a RUMOR this weekend that Smiley is doing something with The Track--more than just a little feature. Anyone heard whispers of what's to come?

He has been for a while now...80's music feature...it's on their site.

Nothing new really.

I see where the "new lineup" is Greg Browning and Kelli Jack

In graphic design, we call that Lorem ipsum.

So the end result is that Entercom cut the full time salaries of Ann and Tom and added on-air duty to the job description for Greg and an airshift for Kelli in addition to her doing traffic and whatever else. This is what Phil Hoover doesn't call downsizing, but "right sizing" = reducing payroll in line with lower revenues due to declining ratings.

Phil Hoover is a genius.

That's too bad... I was looking forward to some god-awful format replacing the current god-awful format. I can only take so much Kool and the Gang before I have to either turn the station or shoot myself. I have thus far opted for turning the station, but stay tuned, you never know.

So glad that Ann finally got the boot, but Tom was tolerable. Sounds like they put some experience on the air with Greg and Kelly. Listened to both on XNT and ZPL and have seen them do tv too. Good move

107.9 should go with an oldies format that plays pop hits from the late 60s through the early 80s. I hadn't listened to WKLU for several weeks so I tried it again for a few minutes this past weekend and they still sound like a classic rock station. WKLU=104.5=Q95=more of the same stuff. The market needs a creative oldies station like 104.5 used to be, except covering the time period I'm suggesting to reach the younger female half of the baby boom generation.

I was not much of an Ann fan either. I'm excited to have Greg Browning back - I worked with him way back when during his Kokomo 'Z' days. He's a hoot! :p

"Tolerable"? That's a little rough. Tom does a great job and knows his stuff. It's refreshing to have a DJ that's passionate about his profession. I doubt there's a person in the market that works harder. Good luck Tom.

I don't think the track will be changing formats anytime too soon.
Also anyone been listening lately? They're announcing the name of the song and artist after EVERY song. This sounds a little odd to me.
I can see how this could be helpful to people who want to know the name a of a song but it just sounds a little out of place.

The voice on the end of every song on "The Track" is the same as a station I listen to between Peoria and Champaign while on business between those two cities. The DJ's drop ins aren't as frequent on the Illinois station as they are on "The Track" though.

The computerized 'voice' at the end of EVERY song is ANNOYING!!! I'll stick with WKLU. I used to switch back & forth between KLU and The Track. No more. sheesh! I just wish they would quit messing with the stations!!!!!!!!!!!

A rep from the station explained it as "tagging". Article in Radio & Records earlier this week about this trend and and how it impacts digital downloads and consumer purchases.
