They played We Belong by Pat Benetar on KZOK

Totally correct. Based on the number of 'good ol' days' discussions, I'll bet there are several RD members who are collecting Social Security. Not everyone can be a trust fund baby,
True. I don’t think I am a trust fund baby, but my parents were successful and allowed me a good inheritance. Nothing in the Bill Gates category of course, but enough to buy a home and have some savings. I only post this because we are rapidly seeing this sort of transfer to kids decreasing. Doesn’t bode well for future generations.

In fact, if one works beyond the retirement age, they both pay in and get payments from Social Security. While you can postpone Social Security benefit payments until age 70, after that point people who work, either for others or self employed, let the money in the front door while it escapes through the back exit.

Remember that you paid for it. It's your money. Your payment is based on what you paid into it while you were working.

And also the employer participation if not self employed. If self-employed, you pay the employee contribution and the employer percentage as well.

"One thing employees often aren’t aware of is that they only pay half of the Social Security tax. In other words, the tax rate is 6.2% for both employees and their employers.

Self-employed individuals are considered to play both roles. Unfortunately, this means that if you’re self-employed, you have to pay both sides of the tax on your earned income, up to the annual maximum — a 12.4% tax rate. You’re also responsible for paying the employee and employer portions of the Medicare tax, which is applied to all earned income.

The point is that for high earners, instead of a $9,932.40 maximum Social Security tax for 2023, self-employed high earners could have to pay as much as $19,864.80."

You Belong fits way better on KZOK than Jump Around or Lose Yourself do on KISW, which was the subject of a thread several months back. If KISW can get away with playing the above mentioned songs, then KZOK can get away with playing You Belong.
Heard Bob Marley Could You be Loved on KNDD the other day. 1980.

No need to get 'All Fired Up'.
Children... this is way off topic. But it's amusing enough to let it run its course.

Careful, or you will find yourself in a "Ring of Fire".
