Henry, no apology necessary. I was being sincere as I knew the station well. Know Jon personally. My point was simply this; "Can we get back to talking about radio"? While scintillating, the discussion of race and politics brings out the worst in many and I don't come to radio discussions for that..Sorry. I felt it was an apt comparison to the Conway situation.

I think Abraham was referring to Rush, not Conway. There’s 30+ years of evidence to draw on there, so “immediate” and “trendy” don’t really apply.Wow! Smart and insightful take.
This thread is a microcosm of our society today. A mistake is addressed and immediately a basket of trendy allegations are throw about whether they really fit the details or not, all without any charity, grace, or even a hint of nuance.
Oh great! Just what everyone is looking for, a board where 98% of the commenters are white commenting on how a minority group should or should not be offended by a guy who isn’t a comedian and most of the time isn’t funny. Remind me again why radio is dying.
Not only that, the finger-pointers all believe themselves (and others that parrot their narrow and simplistic views) to be morally superior to the alleged perpetrator (and don't mind telling you about it at all) , except for, as we can see from even from this thread, they most clearly are not.Wow! Smart and insightful take.

Sure is funny how a guy who got thousands, perhaps millions, of black, Hispanic and other "people of color" to listen to him has been called "racist" and how literally multiple millions of women listened to him, but he is called "misogynistic".I think Abraham was referring to Rush, not Conway. What he did is on the public record. He committed no crime. YOU may think he has, and I am sure if people like you ran the world (which they may soon do) a re-education camp would be waiting for him. As it is now, he has a first amendment right to say whatever he wants, even on the "biggest station in LA". There is no "hurtful to minorities" or "done in bad taste" exclusion to it (yet).Who said who is morally superior? Calling out racist, bigoted and generally awful conduct like using ethnic stereotypes is perfectly valid.
And what’s alleged? What was said and done is public record.

At no point did I mention a crime. Nor any of your hyperbolic silliness about a camp. What he did is on the public record. He committed no crime. He is innocent of everything since bad taste is not a crime. You are guilty of falsely charging him with moral code violations to which he need not adhere.
And not once have the PC police on this board ever come close to wagging a finger at Howard Stern, he of "slapping the butt of nude porn stars on live radio" fame. Never has he been called the names that Rush gets called on this board regularly, or what Tim has been called this week. Why? Because he is on the same side:Keep in mind that all radio and TV stations are licensed to operate, and those licenses are subject to review. Citizens are able to file a petition to deny a radio station license to the FCC if they feel the station has done something wrong. I'm sure that's why KFI suspended Tim & his producer. The first amendment has exclusions, and the FCC has fined radio stations for things that one might think were covered under the first amendment. Howard Stern has a list of those things. His language was always biological in nature, not obscene. But it still offended certain people, and those people felt the need to file complaints with the FCC, and those complaints resulted in fines.
And not once have the PC police on this board ever come close to wagging a finger at Howard Stern,
Oh, I never said it was ok, and if I was listening I would probably have turned it off. Just not my thing.Maybe because he took himself off the radio. Or perhaps because he has a black co-host. Or because he doesn't claim to be right all the time.
So you're saying that making fun of a sportscaster's wife on the radio is OK? How is that funny, entertaining, or political? In most cultures, making fun of someone's wife is not acceptable behavior.
But I refuse to point a self-righteous finger at him, name all of his "transgressions", and act like I am somehow morally superior to him so that like-minded contemporaries can fawn over me and tell me how enlightened I am.
I don't see you condemning it. Unless it is a Republican either on air or in office, I don't think you have condemned anything.Have I done that?
And some people actually think calling out reprehensible, bigoted behavior is how we begin to slowly drive it out of the mainstream.Oh, I never said it was ok, and if I was listening I would probably have turned it off. Just not my thing.

And you have definitely assigned yourself the roles of judge and jury, the question is, when the time comes, will you also volunteer to be the executioner? After all it is most important that we "drive this out of the mainstream" and some people will continue to abuse their first amendment rights by saying "hurtful" things no matter how many times they are called out, right? And some people actually think calling out reprehensible, bigoted behavior is how we begin to slowly drive it out of the mainstream.
No, it's because Stern has not been on licensed broadcast stations for much longer than the current ownership and management of the site has been active. And not once have the PC police on this board ever come close to wagging a finger at Howard Stern, he of "slapping the butt of nude porn stars on live radio" fame. Never has he been called the names that Rush gets called on this board regularly, or what Tim has been called this week. Why? Because he is on the same side:
That is a separate subject, and worthy of discussion about whether those on the progressive side, particularly those who are also members of a minority group, are less criticized than those on the red side of the political spectrum. If that is the case, then conservatives might tend to avoid making comments that could be disliked by the farther left, while those on the liberal side may feel total freedom in criticizing and offending those on the right. So sad that it always has to come down to politics. Why, very few people on this site (looking at you ,finger pointers on this thread) wanted to condemn Cardi B with her disgusting song (which I am not even going to name here, starts with a W if you don't know) because she is a black female, and nobody dared being labeled a "racist misogynist" a la Rush for calling the song what it is, a disgusting piece of filthy trash. In fact some here blamed the "culture" and not radio itself for radio's decision to play the song, while politely not casting any judgements.
