Time to Bring Dance back to 103.1FM

I just heard a promo on 100.3 saying they play lots of varieties of rock. Indie rock was included in the list. While the format is clearly not like Indie, I would say Indie is doomed just for the idea that people will flock to a new rock station. It really is time for Entravision to rethink 103.1 and put a dance format back on the air that is not as safe as KDL was, but not as daring as Groove Radio...Groove 103.1 will work fine for me...I'll just keep dreaming.

This new station will not covet the same listener. The sound world class rock and indie 1031 are far apart. Indie serves some purpose for entravision or they would still not be around. We need stations like indie to show there is still hope for terrestrial radio ;D

Indie has a little more than half of the listeners than either of the dance formats had, so if they can make money with that small of an audience, they should be able to make a little more with dance.

Solution?

Put dance on 100.3. It can reach into San Diego.

Is Indie the longest lasting format 103.1 (either one of them) ever had?

Keep Dreaming.....Indie isn't going anywhere...100.3 the sound is a decent station, however it is a nonfactor where indie is concerned....

You can however try community service..with the the crystal method, Friday nights 10-12...or neon noise with DJ Paul V Saturday night/Sunday mornings midnight to 3.....on indie 103.1 ..hey you might even hear some cool dance music for a change...or if more mainstream dance is you preference...try energy 92.7 in SF...

Although very few markets could support it, I still think Dance would work in L.A. if done right and with a decent signal behind it.

Too bad the 100.3 stick will go to waste again...at least for a few years anyway. Bonneville will have to get an spanked with this boring AAA thing, before there's any chance.

The 103.1 signal is just so spotty in L.A. They tried it once and it didn't work, but maybe they should give it another shot??

I would welcome back a return of MARS-FM, but that'll never happen in 2008 or beyond. :(

It amazes me how dance fans are thrilled when a signal takes a chance on their music but can't extend the same respect to AAA fans. Since Channel folded, there's been no mellow rock station that doesn't play the same tired songs AC radio sticks to, respects new music, and recognizes there's classics Jack and KLOS never dig out of their libraries. I liked Mars FM, Groove, and KDL at times, but recognize that the same joy you feel when a new dance outlet signs on are the exact same feelings lots of people in LA are getting right now because of 100.3 The Sound. There's far superior programming on the internet and satellite to ANYTHING that could be done on commercial FM in LA by any large broadcasting company right now regarding where dance music is truly going.

Personally, my taste in dance runs towards the stuff that's played on Indie, some KCRW shows, and some of the more niche channels on the DMX service. Likely even a commercial dance FM wouldn't be spinning much chill, electroclash or D&B. So I think looking to weak FM signals like 103.1 and begging them to switch to even the most commercialized dance mix is a futile exercise.

^^^^

Probably because AAA is considered a real/viable format. We dance fans feel like we still have to prove the format is viable - and a station in Los Angeles that succeeds would certainly help do that.

and it amazes me how Indie fans overlook the fact that Dance did better on 103.1. Twice the audience but since they are SOOO much better they deserve it. Cause they are so INDIE and COOL. I wouldnt hold my breathe for Dance to come back on 103.1 but I wouldnt get so cocky about Indie sticking around forever. You just never know.

Hey i liked the party station at 103.1 but clear channel felt it was hurting there cash cow kiss so they struck a deal with entravision and indie was born. I liked the dance station i loved the dance mix of the milkshake song and gigi di agastino fly away but i like indie better. You are right who knows that is why with any niche format enjoy while you gots it!!!

I love it how it just kills you guys that both Indie and Jack are still on the air here, that obviously despite what all mighty Arbitron says, people are listening, particapating, and ADVERTISERS ARE BUYING! And just for the record, Bonneville offcially describes "The Sound" as a blend of Adult Alternative, Mellow Rock, and Mainstream Rock. Shades of a once upon a time KNX-FM for those of you who remember. If you don't like what's being offered, spin the local dial or get online. Plenty of choices there.

I miss having dance on a local station, but I listen on line to fresh fm in Amsterdam and dance radio in Prague. I also enjoy the 80's at 8 on mix fm in Lebanon, which has been on at 10:00 until the time change which came earlier this year.
I keep a list of the songs I like and download them from Shereaza to burn on CD's so I can listen in my car. I'm waiting for the day I can listen to internet stations in my car. Clear Channel can play whatever they like.

Where is the technology that will let you listen to internet stations in your car???

Speaking of Dance music. I noticed 104.3 HD-2 has been silent for 3 days. This happen right after v100 changed to 100.3 the sound. I hope we dont lose pride radio. They play some decent current dance music on LA airwaves :(

There isn't any technology that I know of right now to listen to the internet in your car but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later.
