It amazes me how dance fans are thrilled when a signal takes a chance on their music but can't extend the same respect to AAA fans. Since Channel folded, there's been no mellow rock station that doesn't play the same tired songs AC radio sticks to, respects new music, and recognizes there's classics Jack and KLOS never dig out of their libraries. I liked Mars FM, Groove, and KDL at times, but recognize that the same joy you feel when a new dance outlet signs on are the exact same feelings lots of people in LA are getting right now because of 100.3 The Sound. There's far superior programming on the internet and satellite to ANYTHING that could be done on commercial FM in LA by any large broadcasting company right now regarding where dance music is truly going.
Personally, my taste in dance runs towards the stuff that's played on Indie, some KCRW shows, and some of the more niche channels on the DMX service. Likely even a commercial dance FM wouldn't be spinning much chill, electroclash or D&B. So I think looking to weak FM signals like 103.1 and begging them to switch to even the most commercialized dance mix is a futile exercise.
