Trouble at Citadel

Question is...they are advertising for an A/C programmer......someone to "Change the landscape of A/C in this market forever." I think that's what the add said. Yet, if you listen to the station, it's Classic Hits.

How do they rate vs the other Classic Hits stations in the are:

Musically, they are better than Sox. Maddog & Dave are great but beyond them..there's nothing special about that station. Sox is the "vagina" Classic Hits station. And since the other station in the building...WARM.. is supposed to be the "vagina" station, there are definitely some positioning issues there. And Mr. "Vagina" is now running both stations.

The Peak----For the most part, this station is positioned well. Morning show is pretty solid. They took a bit of a hit this time but should bounce back. Where Mix will play Barry White & the Bee Gees, this station will not. I think they would be harder to knock off than Sox. More male friendly. Really need to stay that way.

The River-------Very entrenched. Very difficult to knock off.
So you choose to be in that contest or you re-position to take on WARM and the Rose.

And with some solid gains in Lancaster, I can't imagine there will be too much change coming. Sox then becomes the target in Lancaster. It can happen.

"posted by bossjock: I heard Rich Creeger on WIOV doing 3-7 yesterday. As far as I know, he's still doing mornings 5-10 on RED.
Unless their have been some changes on how things are done....he might have to make the 40 mile treck to Ephrata from Camp Hill everyday. Seems to me that this would not allow for much sleep or family time. "

all I'm saying about this situation is that rich creeger has got to be one of the hardest working men in this "new era" of radio during this recession. I mean to wake up and do mornings 5 to 10 then drive to IOV and put in another couple hours out there is crazy and would drive any normal person to drink heavily and smoke heavily as well . and as boss posted earlier that really wouldn't make for much of a personal life. and this guy is still the only air talent out in the community last time I heard on the weekends live from different remotes. Man what a life just gotta respect a guy like that. that works hard regardless of the issues at citadel broadcasting...... I sure do respect a hard-worker!

AMEN!! I don't know Rich...but I have the utmost repect for him and hope that this all turns into good things for him. On another note...Bob Adams has logged about 5 years with Citadel/Harrisburg. What many on this board blast him for are things that may be beyond his control. While many of the posters don't agree with many of his actions...I believe the mandates come down for corporate. What would you do if you were in the manager's chair and Farid, Judy, or Wayne told you to do something....keeping in mind you may have a mortgage payment or family to support? I have never met the man but sometimes it's more complex than it seems. So...my hat goes off to Rich and all the other hard working people there. I still think FLICKSTER shouldn't have been left go....but that's one man's opinion.

That is most likely true, but Bob (in my experience) has little if any regard for the people who work under him and treats people like dirt. He seems to relish creating a toxic work environment and pitting people against each other, giving him excuses to can people he doesn't like.
Yes, he gets results...he works hard and is smart. That doesn't mean he gives a rats a-- about his employees. Since Farid and Co. don't care either, that makes him (in their eyes) the perfect manager.
