TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

I don't want them to do it. CMT is not in my package and I can't just pay to just get CMT. I have to spend the entire amount for all the channels. And even though I signed in to watch on their web site, I was told CMT is not in my package and I'm still blocked. Why are they storing ALL this information?

Which means I have to wait for Hulu to give me another free month (they already have but it won't give me any benefit yet) when "Nashville" finishes its season. I saw the first half of the season with my first free month. Now in the case of this show, it is in syndication, so two years from now, all the episodes should be available on the channels I get now.

You don't want people to see new episodes, should they desire, because it's not in your package? It does you no harm if CMT were to continue the series, and might well benefit the people who work on it, and the fans who can see it. The world is much bigger than one person.

I hope it's cancelled - one Bachelor every year is more than enough as it is. It's beat a dead horse year after year, with falling ratings. Then the Bachelorette, that Bachelor Pad thing, and Bachelor in Paradise...I would much rather see sitcom reruns.
Agree, but since they seem to alternate it with Dancing with the Stars, wouldn't that potentially mean year-round DWTS?

I really think DWTS should go down to once a year too. That show does two seasons a year!

Yes, I guess I could wait a year, since I know reruns are in syndication. I'd rather not.

It is true that "Last Man Standing" show would fit perfectly on CBS Monday night. Currently two family shows start the night. "Superior Donuts" is not a family show but it is topical. This show could allow a transition between the two styles because it is both.

‘Bachelor In Paradise’ To Resume Production; Internal Investigation Finds No Misconduct

Here is a statement released by Warner Bros.

“As we previously stated, we recently became aware of allegations regarding an incident on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We take all such allegations seriously. The safety, security and well-being of the cast and crew is our number one concern, and we suspended filming so that the allegations could be investigated immediately and thoroughly. Our internal investigation, conducted with the assistance of an outside law firm, has now been completed. Out of respect for the privacy interests of those involved, we do not intend to release the videotape of the incident. We can say, however, that the tape does not support any charge of misconduct by a cast member. Nor does the tape show, contrary to many press reports, that the safety of any cast member was ever in jeopardy. Production on this season of Bachelor in Paradise will be resuming, and we plan to implement certain changes to the show’s policies and procedures to enhance and further ensure the safety and security of all participants.”

I'm not so sure. The show may get a slight boost from rubberneckers tuning in to see if there is any impact on the show itself from the incident. If the ratings are stable or increase, it likely will be back. Otherwise, I think ABC would've just not resumed production. Considering that they're moving ahead, I have to think this was a lot of noise about nothing.

show was stupid. Watched maybe 1/2 the pilot and nuked the timer.

All a matter of opinion. We thought it was cute and maybe even refreshing, but obviously we were in a minority.

Could have been worse. There was one show which got cancelled quickly which I tried to watch a few years ago, and I couldn't even get through one episode.

I struggled to get through one episode of this show. I kept recording it only because I had space. I may actually watch it one of these days. Now that it's not such a chore, that is. If it had been successful I don't know if I could have done it.

Update Netflix cancels Girlboss, The Get Down and Sense8.

Comedy Girlboss won’t return for season two on Netflix. The show, inspired by a book from Sophia Amoruso, debuted April 21. It centers on Amoruso, played by Britt Robertson, who began selling vintage clothes on eBay and, by the age of 27, had built her fashion empire known as Nasty Gal.

Girlboss was created by and executive produced by Kay Cannon, who was also showrunner. Amoruso, Charlize Theron, Laverne McKinnon and Beth Kono of Denver & Delilah and Christian Ditter are also executive producers.

Amoruso commented on Instagram, "While I'm proud of the work we did, I'm looking forward to controlling my narrative from here on out." She added, "Living my life as a caricature was hard."

Netflix produced 13 half-hour episodes. Ellie Reed, Johnny Simmons and Alphonso McAuley were also in the cast.

Netflix recently canceled the dramas The Get Down after one season and Sense8 after two.

Now Sony responds to pick up a series that was canceled by ABC called Doomsday

EXCLUSIVE: It looks like thriller drama pilot Doomsday, from producer Carol Mendelsohn and Sony Pictures TV, will go to series after all. I’ve learned that Sony TV is exploring a series order for the project, originally set up at ABC this past development season where it did not go beyond the pilot stage. While pickup conversations are going on, Sony TV has moved to extend the options on the cast of Doomsday, which were set to expire June 30. The project stars Claire Holt, Jack Davenport, Rachelle Lefevre, Dan Byrd, Taye Diggs, Justin Chatwin and Rochelle Aytes.

I hear Sony TV is planning to produce Doomsday for global distribution based on oversees interest in the concept and auspices. I hear the studio would open a writers room and fund the production of the series, likely in the 13-episode range, before taking it out to domestic and international buyers.

I hear one of the potential options considered involves Sony Pictures Television Networks’ AXN set of international channels, which distributes Sony TV’s straight-to-series Stana Katic thriller drama Absentia that just had its world premiere at the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

Doomsday was one of the first big buys of the 2016-2017 broadcast development cycle, landing at ABC with a production commitment plus a series penalty behind it. It went to pilot but did not make the cut to series.

Written by Mark Bianculli & VJ Boyd and directed by Joachim Ronning, Doomsday starts in the aftermath of 9/11, when the U.S. government institutes a secret think tank featuring the most creative minds in science and entertainment that is tasked with dreaming up man-made disaster scenarios and their possible solutions. Because the hypothetical ideas are deemed extremely dangerous, the list is sealed and the program shut down. But when a catastrophe occurs that’s ripped from the pages of the missing doomsday book, the team is brought back years later to prevent the disasters of their own making.

Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz executive produce for Sony TV-based Carol Mendelsohn Productions alongside Boyd via Pernomium Pictures and Bianculli via Signal Hill Productions
