TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

You mean like the ones that completely contradict your own assertion that all shows benefit equally from time shifted viewing? They don’t. Done and proven; your claim is faulty. Buyers buy live plus time shifted views for a reason.

If such data exists, please post it, but do so in the context of the Modern Family finale and the shows that aired against it. For your point to be proven, the data would need to show that enough additional persons viewed it on delay as compared to the other shows to have provided that finale with a relative advantage.

There's no real need for you to post again on this subject unless you're going to link to some data supporting that contention.

I'm disappointed about all of this (well, not "Tommy" since I decided against it) but I wanted Carol to have a second act.

"Man with a Plan" kept getting brought back when something else was cancelled, but it was still good.

The spoiled rich couple on "Broke" is hilarious but the bartender sister needs to go back to "NCIS". I never watched that but figured I would like her.

She badly burned her bridge with NCIS, chimp. In fact, with the demise of 'Broke', I'm not sure I see her doing much acting wise here on out. She should be a millionaire many times over for all of the years she was on that show, so I assume she'll be fine.

'Man With a Plan' being cancelled surprises me. It only debuted last month and has made the Top 20 in the ratings with each episode.

I too, wish 'Second Act' had gotten another season.

I knew there had to be some reason she hadn't gone back there.

I read there's going to be a "Friends" reunion (I've never seen the show) but it's on hold like everything else.

"Schooled" was okay. Not great. The coach made the show work, when it worked. It was nice to have Michael from "Jane the Virgin" in a new role. Rogelio from that show just got a new series "Broke" which was also cancelled.

The other two are among my favorites. Roseanne would have made her show better, but apparently firing her didn't hurt the show much.

Someone please explain to me how Big Tasty could possibly be a doctor.

That’s because, with the exception of Erica, the Goldbergs are a real family. Big Tasty really does become a doctor. Erica is Eric in real life because the producers wanted a girl in the family. But they have similar personalities. Some of the same things that happen to Erica happened to Eric in real life (the car going off the cliff without her and Geoff in it in a Season 4 episode for example). Even most of the side characters are real.

I'm aware of all this, but they went way overboard with Barry if they intended him to actually become a doctor.

The history of TV (and all of entertainment) is littered with exaggerated characters who of course would not have succeeded in their professions if such a person actually existed in the real world. That’s how it works.

And the Goldbergs barely reached the point more than 5 or 6 years in that the TV version of Barry would begin to study pre-med. He was more referenced than seen on Schooled, and that’s now a moot point.

You’re reading way too much into it.

I will confess I haven't seen but one or two episodes this season. They're all lined up waiting for me to start watching. And I do remember Barry actually seemed halfway intelligent in an episode where he was hanging out at an actual doctor's office. I think that's the episode where he decided he wanted to be a doctor.

But it wouldn't have taken much to make Barry less like a moron while still keeping certain moronic qualities to make him entertaining.

On the other hand, on "mixed-ish", Rainbow is always shown as smart. We know she will be a doctor on "black-ish".

I know why "Man with a Plan" was cancelled. On "Family Feud", Kevin Nealon was said to be from "SNL". While it is true several episodes where he did Weekend Update were shown over the past couple of months, he has been the moron brother of Joey on "Friends" (now that's saying something) for years now.

And someone please explain why Drew Carey's team was wearing "Team Nealon" shirts. They were the enemy.

I wonder if Coach and Tim Meadows will return to The Goldbergs.
