“New Amsterdam“ to end with season 5
Never even aired here to see what it was like
It had Kay Adams. All you need really.Never even aired here to see what it was like
I'm calling April Fool's on this article. Now, I certainly believe that Alec Baldwin was going to be taken off the air ("canceled", is apparently the term?) after the shooting incident, and running a foul mouth on Match Game (surely one of the celebrities on the panel complained by now), but the rest of this is fishy. We have been punked by ABC, in my opinion.ABC is no longer playing games with “Match Game,” “Card Sharks,” “Celebrity Dating Game,” and “The Hustler”
That's too bad. It's still weird that ABC looked into their ratings and budget, and decided that 4 of their gameshows was the problem. 🤦♂️ Yes those shows had low ratings, but I think they're low hanging fruit. The shows are cancelled.
Thanks for the insight. It's interesting that they stopped filming in 2020 right around the first wave of the pandemic.Match Game hasn’t taped in years—it burned off episodes now and then as filler but was effectively done long before the unfortunate movie set incident.
Even low-hanging fruit gets plucked. 😀That's too bad. It's still weird that ABC looked into their ratings and budget, and decided that 4 of their gameshows was the problem. 🤦♂️ Yes those shows had low ratings, but I think they're low hanging fruit.
I'm sorry about "Match Game" but without Alec Baldwin it might not have been as good.ABC is no longer playing games with “Match Game,” “Card Sharks,” “Celebrity Dating Game,” and “The Hustler”
Exactly. We have, as a society, become obsessed with celebrities, and I think Baldwin and McHale have that much needed personality boost that we haven't seen since the original hosts. So it's a double punch. But, people get bored easily with concepts, and when something happens with the host or show, people can turn off in droves.I'm sorry about "Match Game" but without Alec Baldwin it might not have been as good.
Joel McHale was really the only reason to watch "Card Sharks". I never understood why I liked it.
