When it morphed from Adult Standards to Oldies, I found myself listening to it all day. I never got tired of it.
To it's final moments when it briefly was ' The Shuffle '. Sad day for me. Somehow I tolerated their playlist more than others. I wish KRTH would have incorporated some of their music.
The other was Y107, the brief competitor to KROQ. I liked the jockless format and their ID spots sounded eerily similar to what JACK is now doing.
Boo hoo hoo.![]()
I agree about the Oldies on 1260. I also liked their previous version of Adult Standards as KSURF. They had a broader range of titles and artists, more than after the switch back from Oldies prior to country. Actually I think KRTH has deepened their playlist lately but it isn't likely that they will ever go back as far as 1260 did. As a relacement I suggest, if you can get onto their website try WDJO at: http://www.oldies1160.com/ or RichBroRadio at: http://www.richbroradio.com/main.html. One of my favorite features from AM1260 was John Regan's Doo Wop Shop, which aired on Saturdays and repeated Sundays.
Thanx 4 the links. Shadoe Stevens also had a countdown show on the early phase of 1260 Oldies also, right?
Or am I confusing that with another station?
I don't recall any type of show with Shadoe Stevens. At the onset they did take the Scott Shannon's "True Oldies Channel" from ABC Radio Networks. I did not hear at first because they launched on 540 then added 1260 with Shannon only on in the evenings and local DJs during the day. The Shannon part was supposed to be "custom" voiced for LA but it sounded pretty bad so they went local in the evenings too. I believe 540 at first was all "True Oldies" from the satellite. Also during the original Adult Standards and Oldies they carried Old Time radio programming in the late evenings and Stan Freberg's "When Radio Was".

I also miss the El Supremeo...the late great B. Mitchell Reid.
yes, I do! Jay Coffey, Bruce Chandler, etc., pretty good FM radio.airpab said:K-I-Q-Q........Liked their top of the hour station ID.....Music was really good too....Remember Francesca Capucci??
So you know my friend Mucho??Big E said:Well I miss Mega 100 (KCMG). Not really for the music, but for the staff. From the GM to the lowest street teamer, we all had fun together, and it actually felt like a family.

Mucho was never on Mega 100. I believe he did a weekend shift after the signal swap to Mega 92.3 Jamz. I jumped ship when the signal switched.
Big E said:Send me a link, I'd sure like to hear that aircheck of Mucho on B-100. I really think you have your jocks mixed up, but, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. By the way, I was the only one from the programming staff at B100 that didnt get fired when B100 changed to Mega 100 (hope no one guesses my secret identity!).

I guess I'll have to dig up that aircheck to see what station it was.
EDIT: What station was KIBB what format did they have in 1997? According to Don Barrett's book and website, Mucho DID work for KIBB.
