Maybe they will recycle the truck and make it tropical, some of those bones with a little creativity can be transformed into palm trees!
We should all be wishing TMO the best of luck with this project. Hopefully for them it works. Long Island has a huge Hispanic community (some legal, some not so legal...I'll post about that at a later date and on a politically charged website) and this seems like a potential win for them. It would be very difficult to take back an audience that they alienated when they destroyed The Bone, so I can see the reasoning here. The Hispanic market is not familiar with the TMO name, so maybe they would be more inclined to buy time from what seems to be a new radio company. It's kind of a witness protection program for TMO. ;D
What they need to do with LIR is another story. I think the time has come to put away that tired format and do the same thing they are doing with 98.5. Something fresh and with an audience that does not know them too well.
I am all for a YouTube type of radio network....who's with me? Ah what am I talking about that would never work. It's like Country Music and Active Rock, formats that have no value on Long Island... This week I was in Bakersfield California and Pheonix Arizona. The people in these places are listening to Active Rock, Country and the Voice of God. Last month in Syracuse, Austin Texas and Philadelphia it was all about Rock and Country Music. Why is Long Island not able to support these formats? Times up gotta grab the Red Eye!
