stevations said:The car incident relates to someone stopping short in front of me and making a slow turn...I had to go around them to avoid a skid. A car going the other way was upset I went in the middle lane which would not have endangered their car, so it was none of his business unless they are a law officer. Outer Banks is the only place I know that has a restaurant called Eat and Get the Hell OUT. (I am not making this up) I was working at a job in Nags Head and the owners were too lazy to fire me so I show up for work and they look at me like...what are you doing here? The bridge to the cape was out and they hired some of their buddies that could not go south. This was a bunch of years ago so maybe things are better there now. It can be a boring place also. Some people like it, more power to you...just thought I would warn some people since they may not be able to afford to leave due to the high cost of living and low wages. Some others can use it as a stepping stone and move on. I have other stories but I think this is enough. If I had a family I would rather raise them in an area that had more diverse variety than an isolated area.
Lol. You're talking about Bob's Restaurant...their slogan is "Eat and get the hell out" and yes, it's on their sign outside. It's one of the mom & pops that have been here for years. It does a great business and the food is as good as you'd expect for a place like that. It's not a 5 star restaurant, but, for what it does, it's better than an IHOP or Waffle House. As for the slogan, some businesses use that tact. There's a place in Columbia, SC called Cromers Peanuts(which is kind of an all purpose novelty store/specialty shop) and their slogan is "Cromers Peanuts...guaranteed WORST in town!" Cromer's has been around since Christ was a corporal and, for what IT does, it thrives too. I had to laugh out loud when you mentioned Bob's though...the fact that you remembered and mentioned it basically lends credibility to their strategy. No offense intended, just an observation.
But, getting back to your points, again, sorry you had bad experiences here. It is, to most of us, paradise on Earth and one of the best kept secrets around regarding resort areas...which, while seeming like a negative to you and some others, lends a measure of charm, elegance and a certain "je ne sais quoi" to the area that I haven't found in other resort areas I've lived in.
